Right front paw is off the ground because it appears to be walking when the photograph was taken. This female appears well fed and in good condition and Jaguars further south tend to be larger and stockier than those found in the most northerly part of their range.

Looking for Cody Lundin?

I had a friend who had to be Air Evac out due to a roll over, going slow in rough terrain. Also sat in a packed house with a bunch of others listening to eulogy after eulogy for a co-worker who died instantly. That one touched a lot of lives and could have been prevented.

The hide near the tail will serve well enough to identify the type of snake, coontail, blacktail etc. Do you know which four species are protected? Knowing which ones inhabit the area you are in can really narrow it down. http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/arizona-rattlesnakes.shtml

Thats about as good as it gets and darn impressive.

I would think that starting with an oiled patch would just add another layer of somethig to clean through to inevitably get to the carbon and powder. Not knocking your method, just trying to learn and understand your method to your madness. LOL

If you found one please post it up. Oops, should be Range Finder.

Well first I don't remeber hunting that area but is he seeing any sign, foot prints, droppings? How close is he to water?

Just wanted to say I was suprised to see a buck brought into camp in 36B that was still in velvet this time of year.

A bore brush will get the neck area cleaned just due to it being slightly oversized. A mop should also be used when you are done cleaning the bore to get out any leftover cleaner and oil. I run about 4 wet patches down first to remove loose carbon and powder, then a bore brush to remove the tough stuff.

Not hunting, just tagging along as an extra set of eyes and ears. -
So after reading the Rattlesnake Bite thread and not wanting to hijack it. Can those of you who use the SPOT and the available services give me a rundown on it? I basically know what it is but not much else. I don't have a smart phone. Should I get one to work with the SPOT?

If I remember they paraded it around town and then found out it was illegal and it mysteriously disappeared.

PRDATR replied to vegasjeep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
SHould be headed down on friday afternoon and will be camped not too far from the lake with a few others. -
Headed out, probably friday afternoon to meet up with a friend to be an extra set of eyes for him and his daughter to try and get her first deer. Shouldn't be camped too far from the lake so stop in and say hey.

An alarm system for a few hundred or a $50 Club will save you a lot of grief. Hope you get it back.

My guess is you in your late teen or early twenties and something about yor vehicle or the way you presented yourself gave the officer the impression you weren't on the upnup and figured he had better than a 50/50 chance be could bust you for something. Legal smegal. Don't fret it unless you have something to hide. Don't speed and you won't get pulled over.

Don't quite know about that. You should report it because it is the right thing to do not because of what the outcome may or may not be. Especially when a young hunter is involved or how are they going to learn ethics? I went through this with a young hunter on his second deer hunt and he shot a young buck whose antlers had not broken through the hide when he thought he was shooting the spike next to it and jerked the shot. We field dressed the deer and being opening day took it into the Mesa Office. We explained the situation and they laid the deer out in the parking lot on a tarp. They took pictures to use during hunter safety to show what a buck's antlers look like just before they break the hide. They thanked us for reporting it, shook our hands and sent us down the road with the deer.

Travel management - what are YOU going to do?
PRDATR replied to mtn-memories's topic in The Campfire
I hate to see roads shutdown. I also don't like hiking into an area and have the silence disrupted by someone in a loud vehicle driving where they have no business going. It's a double edged sword but not allowing game retrival with the aid of a vehicle in non Wilderness areas isn't right.
