Hope you weren't wearing camo.

Great Showing. Heard they were beat by the French. I would have thought it would have been North Korea.

Thats a good unit. I have the same hunt but in 36B, not my first choice but 33 was also on the list.

Another hunter for smartwool.

Probably the same reason I didn't get one. Although I did draw a Deer and a turkey tag.
-
They probably had to award the contract to lowest bidder.
-
I got hit for Deer and Turkey late this afternoon.
-
Credit Cards have been getting hits since yesterday.
-
I have been watching mine like a hawk so that is good news.

If it is an indoor leak get it fixed now. You don't want it leaking in the house as freon is heavier than air.

A collapsable cooler works well. -

Loss of Bear Hunting Access Due To Extreme Fire Danger
PRDATR replied to lonne's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Some of it has to do with logistics. The Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs caused the evacuation of thousands. I was there and lots of folks were pissed and inconvienced. If it wasn't done who is to say how many would have died and then the lawsuites start. With the Monsoon here I believe restrictions will be lifted. But if the resources aren't available because equpiment and manpower are spread too thin then areas get temporarily closed to entry. You lessen the risk but can't prevent it entirely so it gets managed. -
Considering purchasing my first deer rifle.

Post is three months old. He already bought th e06. -
Nothing yet.

I have one and it is accurate, albeit a bit heavy. $400 in good shape with a decent scope would be a fair price. No scope and the time to refinish the stock and re-assemble it would put a fair market value in the $225 -$275 range. Do you have rings and bases? You can get a new Marlin X7 Varmint in the same caliber for under $400.

Is it a 6mm or a 22-250?

Put in at 4pm. Three apps. No problems. Finished with 34 minutes to spare. -
Good info, i already have new shocks for the beast so im prepared for that. the stock wheels on my truck are the 16" but when i bought the level and shocks i also found a piar of 17" off a 2009 dodge that will fit well so thanks for the info on your tire size. i also appreciate the info on the track bar, that was something i wasnt thinking about too much.sounds like i have a little more to do then just tires but its definatly good to know before hand, again, thanks for all the good info. So what tires did you end up getting? If you have not bought any yet make sure you get Load Range E. Bilsteins are the way to go if you tow. Huge difference over stock when putting weight in the bed or on the rear. Think of them as the Swarovski's of shocks.

I bought my son a pair of Vortex Diamondback 10x50 last year for $250. They may not be the ultimate in glass but we both like them. That said my primary spot adn stalk glass is a pair of 8.5x42 EL's adn looking through the Diamondbacks I was very impressed with them. I wear the EL's but carry either 15's or 20's in my pack for long distance (300 yards+) off a tripod. You cannot hold more than a 10x steady enough for more than a few seconds so buying a pair of 12x or 15x as your only binoculars isn't what you want to do. Sure you can sit on a hill all day with the 15's but when hunting here you will be walking and stalking and having a bino you can hold and readily access is is mandatory. Coues and Javelina can take a few steps and appear or dissapear so you will want to walk and glass every 2-3 minutes or 50 feet, whichever comes first while you are actively hunting. If you aren't doing that you will overlook game. Also get up high and just observe. You will see other hunters and maybe a few hikers. Pay attention to the noise they make. The air our here is dry so casual speech can easily be understood 500 yards away on a calm day. Just walking on rocky terrain the sound of your footsteps are easy to detect 300 yards away by the human ear. If there are cattle in the area they will hone in on you from a few hundred yards, or more. If I was starting out on a limited budget I would look hard at the Diamondbacks. Cabelas and Bass Pro used to have a payment plan called Flex Pay. The way it worked is if the purchase was over say $250 they would spread the payments over 6 months. Pretty good deal but you may have to call them and ask about it as it isn't always advertised. I have also bought a lot of optics from here, http://www.samplelist.com/Vortex-12x50-Razor-Binocular-DEMO-B-P56921.aspx. Walk slow and drink plenty of water.

My son won the same rifle (only RMEF) in a raffle quite a few years ago at Morman Lake during the youth hunt. I use it more then he does now that he is in his 20's and 6'2. It fits me better and is my preferred rifle for Javelina since it is so light and compact. And yes it is accurate to boot.
