Mossberg Model CC660 12 gauge pump shotgun
PRDATR replied to Shooter McGavin's topic in Classified Ads
You can probably get a new stock from Numerich Arms or dill a hole at the end of each crack and glue in a dowel. -
Thanks Amanda. The last one I measured was 36x36x30 and was a 3x3 down in 29.

While looking at all of the pictures posted so far go me to thinking about the size of these deer and I though it would be cool to take some measurements of them. I usually keep a small tape in my frame pack and was thinking if some of you have the time can you post the size of your deer. I would like to see; Length from chest to tail Height from front hoove to top of the shoulder Girth of chest and just for the heck of it how many points. Yes, I'm bored and not much to do until our hunt in early November.

Only thing I add is from my experience the Elk are usually active at night and going to water between 10pm and 4:30ish. Then the bulls battle for cows until 8ish then settle down bedding by 10am. Many years ago a friend of mine from Wisconsin invited his date out for a Cow Elk hunt. During the hunt they were in the woods sitting some distance apart when his dad started motioning about something comming their way and saying "horses, horses" My buddy looked at him and said, " No, Elk Elk". True story.

That looks alot like my current packframe. That padded belt makes it very comfortable. I currently looking for a new back webbing as mine is getting worn through but after at least five years I can't complain. I have a Boyds 2400cu pack attached to it.

Heck next time just stop in and say hello.

Haven't watched it but hey, it seems like the FCC has pretty much let TV go unsensored of late so why not. It might be dirty but compared to the other filth and trash like H311 On Wheels, Breaking Bad, Honey Boo Boo, Jersey Shore etc etc. It is entertaining listening to Nugent belch out the first name of the POTUS. Although I believe he will bet re-elected (not by my vote) the G-Men will soon begin to poke Uncle Teddy at every chance.
-
All right. Who is going to be the first one to post pictures of one?

In 6A you can expect a big variation in weather patterns and snow and muddy roads can exist. The Ceder Flats east of Camp Verde and north of Clear Creek will hold a few.

I have used 22-250 to take mulie Does so as WT are a bit smaller just don't use varmint type bullets and your OK probably out to 300 yards. I used Trophy Bonded BearClaws. Take a look at some of the recently posted pictures in the bowhunting section and you'll get a feel for the size of some of the deer.

New and Improved CouesWhitetail.com website coming soon!
PRDATR replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
Looking forward to it. -
Amanda, Since yesterday I get a screen with a Fatal Error when I attempt to access the Forums. The first time I happened around 4pm and although I repeatedly tried to get on it wasn't letting me. Getting around on the Homepage and other topics was not effected. I also had it happen a few times this morning and trying to post topics and reply to topics is hanging up. When I hit the post button it works but the window does not close afterward so it appears that the reply was not posted. I hope the site did not get hit with a virus.

Looks like they still have some antler growth going on. How long before they are hard horned?

The website has been having issues since yesterday afternoon. I noticed it about 4pm and it is still doing it. -
PHX Valley hunters: where to you hang your meat?
PRDATR replied to Airbusdriver's topic in The Campfire
Cattle have fat marbled through the meat so ageing it works. Deer on the other hand have no fat so ageing it does nothing for it. The University of Wyoming did a case study on game and the results are on their website. It was a pain to find the first time I did so a few years ago but if I have some free time I'll look for it. There was a lot of eye opening information in the paper. It is under their public infor section and is a PDF. It also goes into testing the meat for tenderness using some sort of needle like gauge which is pushed into the meat. Evidentially this is one way beef is rated, Choice, Prime etc. They also found that by leaving the hide on in cooler weather kept bacteria from growing on the flesh as opposed to removing it right away and then transporting it to be processed. -
Best place to hunt in Unit 22 or 23? Give suggestions.
PRDATR replied to Rifle2Bow's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Rifle2Bow, I tried to google the name of the rim but obviously came up with the wrong name. About 2 1/2 to 3 miles north of Pleasent Valley Airport is good (Tanks) as is the southern part of the Colcord Rd. Lots of Junipers, some pines and a few deep washes and smaller canyons to checkout as well. -

Welcome to the site. The area just below the Magellan Rim north of Young will give you the opportunity to arrow a Coues or Mule Deer since they are both in there along with Turkey, Elk and Bear. It wouldn't hurt to have a lion tag in your pocket either. -
I think we have beat this horse enough that Amanda should lock this down.
