My first rifle Javelina was with a 7-08 using 100gr handloads.

I've been using a 243 for the last 10 or so years since I sold my 22-250.

Sure you're not thinking of Cape Buffalo? Either would be a rush.

They feed where there is the least amount of pressure on whatever is available. The only time I have seen them bedded was just off Sunset Point and that was about 9am. I've shot and seen them active all hours of the day.

My parents bought me one in about 1960. I went in the back yard and shot the wood fence. It bounced off. Left a little dent. They were not too happy when I told them I didn't want it because it was so weak.

Went through that 30 years ago with two of them. Mother was a GSP and father was a Chocolate Lab. One yellow male was mellow with people but aggressive with the Choc who didn't like anyone with a tan. I'm no Cesar Millan. Some are just strong headed.

Looks like a lot of fun was had.

So who has been? We are going in December, 1st week. I am looking to fish at least two days. Bucket list fish for me are Bonefish and Sailfish. Thought about Swordfish but it looks a bit boring. Waiting to hear back from Captain Rick Murphy.

We will be in Summerland Key which is about a mile from Big Pine. Where did you fish from? Did you do charters? We will have a boat dock so I thought about renting a boat for a couple of days.

And for that I am very grateful having outlived quite a few of my friends I grew up with.
