Travel management - what are YOU going to do?
PRDATR replied to mtn-memories's topic in The Campfire
The Travel Management Maps show the roads which are open and list the others on the map which are too small to show so you will need to carry both maps. Sure you "can" take the chance but who wants to spend time going to court? The USFS is not blocking or putting sinage on closed roads leaving the burden on us to show we are not on closed roads. Do I agree with this new policy, absolutely not. Will I comply to the best of my ability, you betcha. But it is our perogative to choose our battles. -

This is for Tonto but put the National Forest you are looking for in the Search box in the upper left of the screen. http://www.fs.usda.gov/tonto If you need a BLM map go to their office and get them there for less than you would at REI or Wide World of Maps. -
I'm curious as to what you use instead of straps. I use ratchet straps and haven't had any trouble. If there is something better I definitely want to know about it. Thanks! TJ If you know a mechanical contractor that does commercial and has guys who do pipe insulation find out where to buy the large stainless clamps that look like automotive hose clamps, no bear is going to remove them.

If you have a Whitetail tag and bone it out in the field you should end up with about 40 pounds of meat, which with a decent pack you can haul it out yourself. When you setup camp stop in at other camps and introduce yourself to other hunters before the hunt. Most will be more than willing to help you out if you need it. -

Go to a Forest Service Office and you can get them there. I went to the one on 23st and McDowel in Phoenix and picked both of them up. They are free. The Coconino Map measures 33"x55" and is double sided with North on one side and south on the other. -
I would expect a muzzle velocity of around 2750-2800fps with a 19" barrel.

I don't watch it but happened to catch a play where a player pushed another player to the ground after the play was basically over and I don't know what the Ref's were doing but if they were following the play of the ball they would have seen a blatant act of unsportsmanship. Instead the fouled player retaliated and they both got opposing penalties. What they heck did that prove? The coach should have pulled him from the game and let him sit on the bench until playoffs. As I heard it he had a ton of fouls last year.
-
Is this 100 or 200 yards? I see you didn't post any muzzle velocities but what about pressure signs at your max load, were there any? The 50.5 gr grouping is a nice one.

Bonefish are on my bucket list. I heard they can be caugh in Southern California too. Of all the places I have fished the marshes of South Lousianna are my favorite.

Gotta ask. Did it Make Your Day? LOL

That stinks, hope you get it back. I keep a business card in the camera case so if it gets lost maybe it will get returned. Good Luck.

I have hunted the Long Park area in the past for Elk and also way of Apache Maid for Elk but have not seen any turkey there only west of Morman Lake. Is there a type of area they prefer over another, Ponderosa's over Junipers? My son and I have a fall tag so now that my truck is fixed and our Pheasant hunt over it is time to concentrate on Turkey.

If you are going to bring a stand (or blind) in on public land it needs to be taken down or folded up when you leave even if you are not physically in it and plan to leave miday and only hunt it in the morning or evening. If a hunter is present actively hunting a spot from a stand or blind that is one thing but to set it up and leave then ti should be taken down as to not act like the spot is being claimed. I'm all for no stands or blinds within 50 yards of a water hole. We are supposed to be hunters not ambushers. But, if a hunters lack of ability limits them to that and they are ok with it them nothing will ever change. -
