    Question for the Cope lovers

Asking for health advice about chewing on a hunting website sounds like the beginning of you might be a redneck joke.

    Hunting's Next Perversion

I enjoy the defensive remarks, so thought I would throw one out. Don't tell me how to hunt! I want to be able to blow up a deer with 50 pounds of TNT wired to a remote sensor after I see it walk into the blast zone while monitoring my video system linked to my ipad while sitting on my couch eating ice cream. Someone who is able to bag a coues with traditional hunting gear is a better hunter than one who is only able to experience success using high powered rifles, optics, and trail cams. I am not good enough to bag a deer using my modern compound bow, and I enjoy using my rifle and kaibabs. I don't mind being judged by someone who only uses a long bow to bag a deer every year. They have earned the right to judge me because they are a better hunter than I am. I also don't have a problem judging someone who uses drones to scout. Almost all hunters use modern technology to varying degrees. Just accept the fact that technology compensates for a lack of traditional hunting skills and don't get your panties in a bunch.

Weekend Fishing Report... You won't believe it..

I feel your pain. I won't camp at designated camping areas at any body of water due to the riff raff water attracts. It is across the lake in a nice secluded bay or nothing for me. The further you get away from easy points of access the less morons you will find, but they are still there. After driving my boat across Apache to my favorite camping spot this past weekend I went up to the tent site to find piles of used butt wipe on the ground 10 feet from the best tent site. I would hate to meet the person who took three steps from their tent to do their business and then threw the dirty bits of paper up in the air like confetti when they were done. There is no nice way to say it; some people are nothing more than dirty pigs who don't know any better.
  4. After spending my entire lunch period dialing the game and fish office to get through for myself I was pretty tired. I decided to work smarter and not harder to find out if my buddies drew. As my class came in from lunch I told them to dial the number on the board and the first to get through got a candy bar. Took all of about two minutes.
  5. Heavier is better... if you're a medieval archer trying to push an arrow through an armored soldier at a range of 100 yards or more. The technique used here was to launch the arrow in an arch that is more vertical than horizontal and allow gravity to accelerate it on the downward side. Their arrows were actually going faster on impact, due to gravity than they were when they left the bow. This would only be true if the arrow was shot from an elevated position. If it is launched from the same height as the target it would strike with the exact same speed it had when it left the bow no matter what angle it is shot at, if you disregard air resistance.
  6. First, you LOSE velocity twice as fast as momentum AND you LOSE penetration potential in what energy you do have left because the medium you're trying to penetrate is resisting that penetration four times more than if you were moving half as fast. Velocity and momentum are directly proportional and assuming the mass is constant must change at the same rate. The second part of this sentence is pure gibberish. I tried to make sense of it for one minute and almost had a stroke. This post is what you get when some one who is extremely bored stumbles upon an old physics text book and a half rack of beer.

Stolen Bow update- got the bastards

Hopefully they get all of what they have coming and then some.
  8. That is crazy that you can actually see the bullet from the 308 in the slow motion video. Looks like fun.

    300 RUM, 1000 yards, 3 shots, 1.75"

Wish I wouldn't have watched that. Now I want to go sell my boat and a kidney to get myself a setup like that.

Today's topic of conversation is when should you send a personal message and when should you make a post. Discuss amongst yourselves.

    Tag came in the mail!

This thread made me all excited to go home and check the mail. Maybe tomorrow.

    WTS: Alliant RL-25 Powder

Sounds like a deal to me, assuming he has some h4350 that is not already spoken for.

    WTS: Alliant RL-25 Powder

I live in Tucson, but can send you a check and then pick it up later if that works for you. I would have sent you a p.m., but you are full.

I will take the h4350 (as much as you have left).

    Scope Cover?

I love the idea of the butler creek flip up scope covers, but they could not make a lower quality piece of garbage if they tried. I would expect to find a better made product at the bottom of a cracker jack box. At some point they changed their product to save costs in production. The original butler creek scope covers I bought held up for years until I sold the scope. I have tried three different times to outfit my new scope with butler creek caps and they have never lasted even one hunt without breaking. I know Leupold makes one that fits their scopes, but I wish another company offered a universal flip up cap made of aluminum or a higher grade plastic. Seems like they would make some money. I feel better after that random vent. That being said I have used the generic version of the scope coat after giving up on Butler Creek. It has holes wearing through it where the caps are, so I will probably buy a real one this year.

    Finally Found Some 22lr

My would have the same expression as that little girl if I found some H4350 except I would be yelling to my wife "Bring me the credit card!"

Now that AIMS testing is over I have time for a more thorough response. If you are able to cut the ball you would want a smooth soft rubber with a high coefficient of friction. The friction will apply a component of force tangent to the surface of the ball, creating torque which will cause an angular acceleration. The ball will now have spin. If you are not able to cut the ball or do not know how to return a ball that has spin you would want a paddle with a low coefficient of friction, such as flat wood. With minimal friction between the paddle and the ball you will minimize the torque on the spinning ball when it contacts your paddle and it will leave in a direction closer to perpendicular to the face of the paddle (the direction you are trying to hit it).

Depends if you play with an offensive or defensive style.

For my general and pre A.P. classes we do both, and just mechanics C for the A.P. class. Mechanics is fun, E&M on the other hand is a different monster all together. I have 4 more weeks of Electricty and Magnetism than I'm off to Statics. I would bet teaching AP physics would be enjoyable since the students in it are more interested? I have some kids that are brilliant this year. If one of my students happens to miss a question the first thing I do is go check the answer key to make sure they didn't make a mistake.
