Favorite Trophy Photos
WHT_MTNMAN replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
These are my favorites because I got them during dental school. -
Well I shot this buck Nov of 2005. Here he is completed. Pretty happy ears look a little too pink for me, but I'm not a taxidermist.

My dad tells of a story that him and his buddy were in the woods and they ran upon a small bull elk that was blind and kept running into things, it ran into a fence around a tank and so they jumped on it and held it down for a few minutes and then let it go. Then there is the stories of the fastest horse in the white mountains that cowboy Bigler rode, they chased down and roped an antelope.

I've seen a couple. One was between Heber and Show Low around my parents place. I went to get a camera and of course it wasn't there anymore. It was a femal wearing a radio collar, I called G & F , they said that she had wondered from the blue pack in 27. I think I would have more trouble identifying her from a husky or other domestic dog, than a coyote.

Welcome to the forum Jay and good luck this weekend.

Thanks...I sure didn't like the doubler and would love to hear feedback about the tripler. If you get a chance I'd like to see some pics on how it couples over the eypiece etc...

Very good story, video and pics. I hardly can wait until this fall. Nice job indeed

Thanks for the replies... The buck on the left was my first ever hunting the great Coues so even though he is small I had to get him mounted. Eagle Eye- I don't have my score sheet out but I think he was 13 4/8ths wide give or take some. Crotalus- No I didn't do the taxidermy myself Chris Williams from Trappers Den in Lakeside did. Jason I sure hope to add a few others to it soon.

Coues Buck Contest WINNERS

Sweet bucks everyone.. Nice job on some beautiful Coues deer. -
Very nice place... good job putting that together. Job well done.

I learned that Mexico has some big bucks. and the 36 units have more illegals than I care for. I also learned that sometimes a lion will let you shoot TWICE at them and you should go home if you miss both times. I learned that I get the fever more with lions than with a Coues buck. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Archery Hunting in Arizona
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I've only hunted a few of the good areas, and what draws me to each unit for bowhunting is dependent upon the vegetation and "stalkability" of an area. Last year the southern units had lots and lots of tall grass and during the dry times I didn't hunt it at all because of stalking. I spent more of my time north in areas that had better "stalkability". As you can see it really paid off with the big buck I didn't shoot this year. -
Nice job Jason- that buck has it all. It is even better in person, I got the chance to fondle that buck in person. HOLY SMOKES I think I want one. Congrats to RH
