2006 Kodiak Alaska Trip
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Nice job again RR- Jason good luck on your hunt next year, That hunt is the reason I want to be a dentist -
If I'm hunting with other people, I have no problems having a huge meal, fire anything else I need for enjoyment. (especially in the winter when it gets dark at 6:30pm and doesnt' get light until 7am) When I'm by myself I usually just crawl into bed. Be a smart hunter and play the wind is where it is at. I personally think the only good that comes from taking so much care of clothes, what you eat etc... as far as scent is concerned is to give you confidence. Confidence is what is important. IMO Besides just hunt the burn areas and the smoke on you will fit in just like normal.

2006 Kodiak Alaska Trip
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Awesome story and pictures. I sure can't wait until I get a chance to make it up there. Someday....Congrats on the nice bucks. -
My little bro shot a small buck yesterday with my trusty .06 at 327yards. I think it is important to be able to shoot 300+ yards. That being said. I'm an archery hunter at heart, 20 yards is good. :0

November hunters in 36 units
WHT_MTNMAN replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I'll be down there, hopefully I'll miss it again this year, packing out my 90+ incher at midnight. :) -
Last years buck at 360 yards.

I agree with what has been said. I myself prefer to hunt alone. Besides all of the other good things that were said, I rely alot on the reaction of other deer. Last year the exact same thing happend to me, the two other bucks he was with stopped about 60 yards away and watched the spot of their fallen companian before moving off. I took this as a great sign and found the buck piled up right where he was standing.

I've had nothing but good luck with the sweetwater.

I bet you can get one under $300 at any dealer

I've had no problems with the ripcord but I'm not sold on the ease of adjusting. I'm leaning toward the Vital Gear Kaz away or something like that for my next purchase. Full containment and looks alot easier to fine-tune adjust and probably a little quieter. all in all I like the ripcord and being able to lock it into place and have full containment. It is a little noisy though, make sure you put moleskin etc... on before you tune. Good luck

Good Pack Needed ASAP!!!
WHT_MTNMAN replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have it also... and so far I have no need for another pack.. Feels real good even with a good amount of weight. I don't think you could go wrong with it at all. Houston -
Nice job- and great bull. I shot my elk the 2nd day of archery season and he was already busted up a little. Lots of bulls this year were busted early in the season. To bad because this year produced some pretty good bulls.

On Friday I went to my unit and proceded to look for the bull that I have on video. He has lots of mass and is a good 7x7. He wouldn't score more than 370 I think but he was a good bull. I found him but with all the wind and cows did not get a shot. I passed on 3 other bulls that morning. Here is short video of that bull taken before the hunt. 7x7bull I then proceded to miss a huge bull on Fri evening. I stalked to within 30 yards could only see his back and tines and then missed him at 68 yards. Here is VERY SHORT (watch carefully) video of him before I stalked him and shot at him. (very few big bulls were answering calls) I passed on 4 or 5 bulls that evening trying to get in for a shot before dark. LuckyBigBull Sat morning I passed on a few small bulls and then at 4:45 this bull came in. Partially to our calls and because we had positioned ourselves between him and his water hole. Here is video of him.. I'm at the lower left side of the screen and my buddy was videoing. KillShot Here are some still pics.

3c only a few miles from the house i grew up in. I actually had been scouting and hunting in a bunch of areas away from where I shot this bull, but my dad gave me a tip on that huge typical 6x6 so I went searching for him. Nice to have family still in a area you want to hunt. I give my dad huge thanks for spending time for me in the woods while i'm down here finishing school.

Nice job Jason...very nice bull. I'm letting Tommy put him on the wall for me. Is that a good thing? jk Who is going to do yours? Anyway congrats and nice bull.

Monster Muley from Nev.
WHT_MTNMAN replied to DEERSLAM's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
Yeah..... That and I can't draw for a good mulie tag anymore. That is an awesome buck and I agree that anybody that says they would pass it up are full of ****. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I did get a NV mulie tag this year first in 7 years. Last mulie tag was in CO. -
You should have no problems getting it repaired by Minox. You do not say from where or when you purchased them, however, if you would me to assist you with taking care of it, it would be my pleasure. Please feel free to contact me directly. That is class act....I've see your name around the sites for a few years and every time I'm impressed. You are going to get my next purchase. :)

short video clip of a Coues buck
WHT_MTNMAN replied to azryan's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
You have to go to options and then click on share or make public or something like that. Then everyone has access to you account. That is the only way I know how to do it. Houston -
nice job... congrats on the good bull
-
That is your opinion... At coues I want every bit of accuracy out to 50+ yards. I did not feel the WB gave that too me.
-
I didn't like the whisker bisquit because it contacted my vanes, and to me this meant decrease in accuracy, i don't care about the speed to much. I also have the rip cord but am looking for another full containment rest that is a drop away. Benefit of the bisquit is that is is inexpensive for a good rest.
