Doug always has the coolest pictures and it reminded me of a neat sequence of photos my buddy caught of me stalking a bedded mule deer buck for a picture. Im a very new photographer but I am enjoying it when I can. Jeremy was couple hundred yards away and I was able to get within about 50 yards of the buck. My cousin and friend Jeremy took these 2 pictures and the last is the picture that I took.

He's a great buck, I think he may be slightly bigger than 80" but I was thinking 83" I'm pretty sure not 90, but it doesn't matter. Congrats on a great buck.

Are you really going to shoot a fork?!?!

Beautiful buck! -
Goes to to the end of the year. I've heard of a small 2 point, 3 point and a mid 160s class 4x4 get killed. It's been tough for big bucks so far.

Lots of young bucks with does up here in 3c. Just nothing big at all. Yet...

The rut isn't going to happen for a while this guy just stripped yesterday.

Yeah he is a southern Utah buck...they have a lot of red in them

I wont speak for trphyhntr but this mountain is pretty close over all. Especially after high school. It is sure fun to see and be a part of our (any) rural public schools dominating over private "valley" schools. Yeah we take pride in where we are from.

Can you imagine the shame!!! It's a repeating rifle! Your not a real hunter if you can't get it done with one bullet.

It was horrible. It seems like all of the outfitters and guides post under social media and I have yet to see anything to write home about. Tough year for sure. Thats a great ol photo, seems like I've seen it but can't place it?? Story behind it?

Good buck, especially at the end of the year. Way to go.

Whatever you do, start it quick the waiting is the hardest part and if you can afford it start with multiple cans. Guaranteed you won't want just one

My wife have a good arrangement, she told me I could put the mounts on the walls and when the walls were filled up she could get a new house. So I bought a house with 23 ft walls and keep filling them up..

I got lucky and got a voucher for 3rd season CO last Saturday. Spent Saturday and part of Sunday scouting, drove thousands of miles learning a new unit, glassed a bunch and 20+ hours in maps and calls to acquaintances. I came home went to work and drove back up late Thursday night. I found this buck right away on a knob I had scouted via maps and Onx. Took some video and bailed looking at more country. In person I couldn't get him over 175" so I questioned if I wanted to pass him. After talking with a few people that had had the tag in the past, others that have hunted it and those who lived in CO and others giving me their opinion on score I decided to try and kill the buck. Being by myself I decided to get in as close as I could in the dark, well as luck would have it, someone walked by me after light and proceeded to push deer everywhere. For some reason he didn't see the buck and about 20 min later the hunter went one way and the buck went another way. I shot this buck around 7:10am and packed him out in 2 trips by 2 or 2:30 pm. Scored 178 2/8ths.

Thanks for talking to me...I really got lucky but put a lot of miles learning the unit and lots of hours pouring over maps.

Landowners get them and they can sell them. 3rd and 4th season tags go for a lot of money unless it is a dry year with little to no migration and then people drop the price in order to sell them. Still expensive but not nearly what they can be...
