Grossed 185. I actually thought he could hit 190 in person...his tine length looked incredible. Very pretty buck that I've seen for a few years and evidently a few others did as well.

Yeah having been in CO a few times just never this unit I wasn't sure what to expect. Everyone and I mean everyone was telling me with the hot weather, lack of high country snow and the decline in the mature bucks in most of CO I figured a 175 class buck was good enough. I only had a 4 total days to hunt anyway, that made the decision a little easier. I talked with a guy that has bought a voucher for the last 5 or 7 years and hasn't killed anything over 170 yet. I didn't know what to think

20211004_070021~2_2.mp4 I found this buck Oct 5th still in velvet. Never killed him. So I'm not sure what he scores. I was thinking 170ish when I first saw him but by the end of the 4 minutes I filmed him I had changed my mind. Mass is always deceiving in velvet but I think he's 180-185. Maybe I can find him later. Couple shortened clips. Sorry for the double video. Can't figure out how to delete one of them. 20211004_070021~2_2.mp4 20211004_070021~2_1.mp4

I know the score. He was killed

Another angle front view. They always look bigger looking away. I have a horrible time judging this buck sometimes he looks 190" other times he looks 170" 20211112_161943_1.mp4

Similar yes but you can never determine species on antler pattern. Lots of 3x3 mule deer get killed every year that look like they could be whitetail, if antler pattern was the only key feature. This buck I killed in Utah with my bow few years back. I have Coues deer bigger than this mule deer.

Anything that touches Lances' hands shoot lights out so maybe I should start bidding higher than asking price. Hmmmm

You have 2 options, get a phone scope adapter that can change to the different lenses or just set it on the zoom lens and plan on backing out your spotter or binos and using the zoom of the phone. -

Guided Mexico Coues Hunt, how big of a buck should you holdout for?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to DonkeyMan's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Public land in AZ has as good or better quality than 75-80% of Mexico. Unless the ranch you are hunting has a long proven track record, anything over 105" should be seriously considered. Most want to kill 110+ and in the end shoot something under 100". The benefits of Mexico include 1. Limited to no hunting pressure 2. Food 3. Most of the time limited cell service 4. Good friends -
My son has killed a couple mule deer but this year he killed his 1st Coues. Due to his school schedule he wasnt able to scout with me. I scouted 3 different weekends and with it shaping up to be a tough hunt we decided to hunt this buck. I actually figured he was smaller than he is. We were both happy as we walked up to him. We started our hike at 2am and made it to where he was by 6:15. Shot shortly after. Good scouting and a good plan worked out perfectly. Made an absolute perfect shot in front right shoulder/heart at 380yards. Bonus Rams during scouting
