Favorite Elk Bullet? Average shot distance in AZ?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to excaliber's topic in Elk Hunting
Trust me i know and with a bad experience you never want to run that risk. I just thought I would share that I have had very good results. Most of the elk were big bulls but a few cows as well. I have a good buddy that has had the absolute worst luck with a certain broadhead but my experience has been just the opposite. If you mentally do not trust a bullet or broadhead there is no reason to use it...So many good alternatives out there. I am so jealous of your bull though...so cool. I'm sure glad you were able to get him killed. -
Favorite Elk Bullet? Average shot distance in AZ?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to excaliber's topic in Elk Hunting
My 300 ultra with 210 bergers have killed over 25 elk in the last 10 years from 25 yards to 870 without any problems at all. IMO you hit too far forward with your bull quartered away that hard. No way you were going to hit lungs. My .02 I know there are many bullets as good or better but the Berger does just fine with good placement. -
Lifetime Hunting Fishing Combo License
WHT_MTNMAN replied to IA Born's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
Can the winner "gift" it to a family member? Im already a lifetime license holder. -
Its because people can find the "HD's" for $1750 or 1800 about anytime they want. Not trying to knock the OP just answering why they haven't sold IMO.

My personal best in my avatar right at 115"

Giant body is right. You can almost always use ears as a reference. Some pictures can be very deceiving but ultimately you can not hide or change the ears. On that buck the ears are giant so it all is very deceiving. One of my favorite all time bucks for sure.

Great buck!! Looks like a mid to high teens buck. Sweet

Congratulations. If you mean an absolute clean 3x3 with eye guards ( an 8point) and no extras at all my guess it is in the high 120s. Ive seen a few in the 130s and above but most have an extra or two.

None of those are even close to " 8's "

Lost or Stranded/FUBAR scenarios while hunting.
WHT_MTNMAN replied to AZBIG10's topic in The Campfire
Ive never been lost, just "turned around" a few times. Back in the school days I fell into this rut and was high centered for 2 days trying to get out... Notice my tent in the background. Finally had to walk a few miles to get service to call my dad. Ive been on this site a long time. -
Busted left Eyeguard and busted split G2??? Or just deformed? either way incredible mass and it takes a lot to break mass like that. Impressive buck

Beautiful buck!!

I wanted to get another one that was good for about anything so I got a Saxon 9. I've shot it a little bit on my 9mm as it is at the "gun shop" on layaway and I seem to like it a lot. We will see how it performs on long guns.

Its a 25 CM built by Todd at southernexpress MDT chassis. Shooting the 131gr ACE from Blackjack bullets x caliber barrel Just waiting on my suppressor should be anytime now.

What a great accomplishment Tyler, Congrats to you guys!!

Scores were just over 120" and just under 108" gross. Im a stickler about being as accurate as possible and have learned to score around some of the best certified measureers, but I'm not claiming to be perfect.

Super buck!

Thanks again for making a great rifle. 25 CM did great!
-
My brothers should be high teens and mine 105ish+ Due to the exaggeration of most scores I really have tried to get away from scoring them.

Look back at your trail cams...everything is done by July 15th at the very latest. Very few inches are grown after that..i agree with June being a critical month

All of the best bulls are all finished by monsoon season. They do not grow much at all the last 3-4 weeks anyway. Spring moisture is what matters...Monsoons were horrible this year and it didnt matter one bit.

oh man so sorry to hear. What a tough time
