    Arizona Unit 4B

I think it is because of flatlanders love affair with 4B and the recurrent theme of how good 4B is...yes it has and can produce great animals... high quality hunt it definitely is not.

    Question

I shot them for a while and they performed great, but they are not very tough. Lots of broken arrows when I missed or had pass throughs.

Nice 5x5, what would he score?

That is actually a pretty decent bull. I agree he is a young bull with slightly shorter beams but great 3rds good fronts and 4ths. Mass fair to good..I bet he pushes 330-40 with an average width. 5x5 like that I would call big..

backpacking tents.... what are you guys using?

I'm using a northface tadpole from about 15 years ago when I worked at Popular Outdoor stores. Still going strong. I've been very happy with it.

My son doesn't want to go Elk Hunting!!!

Sounds like the precedent has been set quite a while ago. I would never force my kid in a truck to go hunting. That, discipline should, have, been done long ago under different circumstances...I would do everything in my power to make hunting fun, even if it means hunting 1 day and sightseeing, playing games eating food and whatever the next 6 days.

    Miserable Elk

COA- I wouldn't admit you couldn't tell the difference between an elk and deer track on the internet. It is crazy how low I've seen elk over the last few years.

    Any Idea of how big??

He had all of us wondering what he was. My brother who had never shot a Coues would have been thrilled to shoot him. So he tried, Hopefully he is around next year. I was at 300 yards with a 95mm swaro and was guessing the 110 mark, but I never got a great look so who knows?
  21. Long story but this buck was shot at and missed in Mexico this year. Not the best footage I know 4x4 with a 3-4" kicker off of base of left G3. 3 1/2 to 4" eye guards if I remember correct What are your guesses. ?? I have my thoughts just curious as to what others think. You can watch in HD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv2cAnsnJLI For comparison this 4x4 was 114 and change buck. Shot is just over the 1 min mark. No follow up shot needed even though it was back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90PjEjAIM_U

    My Son's Texas Black Buck

Earlier this spring I had a chance to go to Tx with my boys. Overall it was a horrible trip. 8 of us 2 days in blinds and my oldest son was the only lucky one. I was super excited for him and he made a great shot sitting a blind by himself. I wish I could have been there to see it. My youngest made a stalk on a couple of piglets and got to shoot at one. kind of. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/khdavis/media/VID_20160430_085302649_zps6mrkqbpy.mp4.html?filters[user]=2662449&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0

    My Son's Texas Black Buck

We arrived with food garbage left from the previous week. It was a disaster, The ranch manager was a young kid who showed up late, hungover and less than thrilled that he had to work. Just tough all the way around..
