The further I shoot the further I have to hike to go check for blood or a wounded animal. I am very discerning now on how far I shoot. I do like having the abilities to shoot well at long distances.

What you have is fine...BUT, big bull elk are incredible tough. Shoot the biggest heaviest bullet you can shoot accurately IMO

This year has been the busiest with the least amount of time in many years. I usually spend every day behind my glasses scouting, looking and enjoying the mountains. This year was the exception it has pretty much sucked, but the few days I've been out have been productive. Here are few pics. My son stalked a coues buck and got within 40 yards he made a rookie mistake and didn't get a shot. My good buddy tried to post but he wasn't able to. Jeremiah killed this buck spot and stalk at 35 yards. He enjoys looking at others success and wanted to share his success. What an awesome buck for a great guy.

My first guess was vortex scope.. 2Nd like others have said is needs a great thorough cleaning. I've seen them open up to giant groups 4-5" groups at 100 yards and shrink back down after the cleaning...

Triclawps...try shooting prone or even sitting with a bipod on a steep downhill angle..
