Last November, I shot my archery bull at 0 degrees. I had a long sleeve shirt, underarmour hoodie and a KUIU guide jacket and a vest. We were hiking quite a bit but it worked for me. I upgraded to the down jacket this year, we will see how it does. I also would recommend layering unless you are sitting still for great lengths and are close to a vehicle.

Way to go on some great bucks!!

Antelope is sweet and is by far less gamey than deer or elk...IF it was handled properly. I too have had it from Az WY and NM. Every time it has been my favorite game meat.

I predicted a slow rut with less bugling. When you have water everywhere elk can be very spread out, IMO this makes it easier for those that glass but tough on those that "chase" bugles. The days that you get bulls bugling non stop is when you have a larger concentration of bulls around a hot cow. When water and feed is everywhere you don't get the same competition.

If you want to maximize clarity go with HD if you are taking pictures and video for your own viewing and scoring animals, non hd works ok. I've taken lots of video and pictures through my 65mm swaro non hd and even though the quality suffers, I can see enough to know what I'm chasing. Someday I hope to upgrade to the 95mm swaro, Huge quality difference. 150 yards good light. about 800 yards, overcast, fair lighting. 600-700 yards very early in AM 300 yards give or take, good light A still shot from video on my phone about 400 yards about a mile and a quarter, non hd suffers this far out. All taken with my 65mm non hd swaro. As you can see depending on light and distance the non hd is ok. Again one of these days I'll get the 95mm.

My buddy had locks cut off before...not southwest..

We have never had a problem flying with a gun case, shotguns or rifles no problem. Make sure the Ammo is in either factory ammo box or if you reload have a ammo box for your reloads, they don't like loose loads in plastic bags. Make sure it is locked with TSA approved lock or they may cut it off. I don't ever remember being charge extra for a gun case either.

It was an alert and then they said it lost its power and so they allowed the warning to expire

Coues With Big Heavy Bullets
WHT_MTNMAN replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Between my family, friends and I. Probably 20 coues, 8 mulie and half a dozen elk have fallen to the 210 berger out of my 300 RUM in the last 7 years. The only concern I had was at 100 yards my wife shot a buck quartering away that exited in the neck, it was about 8" hole. It was the only cape ruined out of all of them. Coues killed from 100-1130 yards without even one concern. I would rather have a big heavy bullet and hit bone. That is my placement of choice. -
Wow!! Slammer Buck nice job

Is that the first generation frame and hip belt??? Doesn't look like the newest one.

Saw two decent/good bucks. 1 hard horned 1 velvet. Last night the buck I saw had just rubbed, very red, no pictures though.

Great Job Nick! I agree, its ok to to brag a bit, but only on others..... especially our kids.

Huge difference between outfitters and individuals. Knowing a unit may not lessen the quality of animals but it sure lowers the draw odds for an individual. An outfitter doesn't care, there are x amount of tags every year, they don't care how hard it was for Joe to draw. Actually maybe they do, if it is harder to draw the more likely one might retain their services.

I get PM after PM after PM when I post pictures of deer/elk etc... I usually post pictures under unit specific threads etc...Tons of people search individual units and ask questions of all of those posting that seem to know the unit. I really don't care too much, I've made some great friends over the years, this way, but I don't hand out all my info just because someone asks on an internet forum.

I haven't seen any hard horn bucks yet, here is a couple from the last few weeks.
