Took a break to take the kids out bear hunting and squirrel hunting. Found a few bears but couldn't make it work, son got to watch a sow and cubs all morning one day and we had a great time. Here are the kids out. So now we had some Coues deer hunts, had a great time I have these last two pictures. I have a buddy that had an Oct. tag but was in NM helping/guiding on a Mulie hunt so he didn't know if he would get to hunt, well he had a couple of days, called me up and I took him to a spot that held good bucks but I didn't realize how good these bucks were. We glassed one up for him and he killed it one shot with my 300 ultra at 812 yards both shoulders, the buck was bigger than I expected. 113 3/8 Went in the next morning and another buddy killed off the same ridge, 650 yards, I didnt' get permission for his picture so I will just post the buck. 111 3/8 So it has been a good year so far.. Got a few more hunts for mulies and then couple of family members have late bull tags and my wife still has December WT in 23 so hopefully a few more pictures to come.

Jade- Ive never used my phone as a modem, but think it should work just fine. I also have a blackberry and can access the forums even post replies etc.. little extra time but it works. I get all my business mail on the phone and that makes it nice, the only thing is that it is harder to reply so I don't remember to reply to all the stuff I need to unless it is very important.

yeah but its a savage I grew up hearing nothing good about savage and have a hard time looking at one. I agree they seem to have gotten their stuff together the last few years.

If you ever thought you would want to customize it you should go with sps. It is very easy to find parts and to work on. That being said I got my 300 RUM sps and it shot .75 inch groups with factory corelokts. A friends shot .5 inch with handloads. I have since added a few things to get it to shoot better and I love the remington action. my .02

Great job guys on some great bulls.

+1 for thermarest Since you mentioned bivy ground pad in your title I'm sure you are wanting light and packable and I've found the thermarests to be very good. I too use a long one from head to toe, it is slightly heavier but well worth it.

Just over the hill looks like a REAL long ways off, nice job on the yotes.

My son has hunted with me from a very young age, watched me spot and stalk mulies at 5, chased rabbits etc.. younger than that and was my spotter on my rifle NM lope tag last year. He has been with me a few times this last week looking for bear, got to see his first sow and cubs etc. My spotter as I belly crawled to within range of this buck. I asked if we should shoot this buck and he said yeah and I couldn't pass him up.

Nice job buddy, I'm glad that area did good for you, even though you didn't find your Coues. Did you shoot him from the hill to the west I told you to glass from?

Richard I'll be up with my little bro, good luck to you. I too wish I could make it down to help. It is just not a good weekend with the hunts. -
Happy B-day Gino

Yes that is uncalled for. Do you still want the calling bears video?
-
Doggy- Lion will be noticable rounder, smoother, with the pads not cutting in as deep even in mud, along with what some of the others have said.
-
Great job on a good hunt and story. Cool bull.

Hey GH, I'll get that too you as soon as possible, I'm leaving in a couple hours for 3c for elk, but will be back to Payson on Wed. If that will work let me know I'll bring it by the store, you may have to remind me with a PM or something. Jade- That little dance of his is one of my favorites, I love that he gets so excited, makes it real to me.
