  1. I was fortunate to be able to help Cuco Del Cid of Rancho.Bonito.Trophy.Hunts in Sonora last week. Dr Michael Sisk killed a great buck. Only 15-4” of main beam and 12-2” inside spread, but 32-5” of mass. IMG_8355.MOV IMG_8664.MOV

    Atlas Bipod???

    Ruffs in Flagstaff.
  3. MMACFIVE

    Can you say “MASS”

He scores about 113”. There is probably over 10” missing with the broken eye guard and 2 Broken in lines. If unbroken he would be in the 120s easy. BTW those bucks you killed are amazing. Congrats.

    Which scope?

I just bought a leupold 5-25x mark 5HD. I havnt mounted it yet but it sure seems impressive. I might have to upgrade my VX5s and VX6s.

    Big Eyes/ Twin Spotters

According to Swarovski the 25-50 eyepiece has a larger FOVat 25x than the BTX/85 combo (although 30x). the people I know who prefer the twin spotting scopes tell me it’s because of the brightness and the ability to zoom. Jason in Tucson has apparently solved the collimation issues with his mount. I’ve seen his bracket and it looks top notch. The IPD issue is why I haven’t looked through a set...

    Big Eyes/ Twin Spotters

I’ll have to redo the math. I agree it needs at least the 85. Remember the 85 is 30x and the 95 is 35x so the exit pupils are similar. I really can’t tell the difference in light performance between the 85 and 95. I prefer the 85 for balance and weight. I like the BTX system enough I’m not interested in the dual spotting scope set up. A good friend took delivery of two Swaro STS 65 HDs with 25-50 eyepieces today for a big eye set up. I might change my mind IF I look through them.

    Opinions on vortex spotting scope

I have several friends who use to have the Razor 85. They all have Swaros now.

    Big Eyes/ Twin Spotters

If you do the math the Swaro 95 is about the equivalent of around a 60mm for light gathering after the split. Field experience suggest this is about right.

    260 Remington

When loaded to factory coal there is about a .5 gr difference in volume between the CM and 260 rem with a 140 gr bullet according to Nosler load data. How the heck are you getting an extra 150fps? Theoretically you would need about a 15 gr different to get that much extra velocity.

    260 Remington

The 260 rem and the 6.5 creedmore have nearly identical case capacity. It might be easier to find a good CM load and go from there. I’ll bet 40-42 grains of H4350 or IMR 4451 would work well with any of your bullets.
  11. This is from a 6.5x55 with 127gr Barnes LRX at 225 yards. MV 3025 fps. Impact velocity 2650 fps. This has been a the normal experience I’ve had from Barnes. Every thing from the original to the TSX, TTSX, and LRX. A rib was hit on entry and exited after almost 3”. We’ve also driven 120gr 7mm TTSX through a cow elk femur and found it in the neck. The LRX/TTSX is my goto bullet just in front of the Accubond. Yes I know they might be a little short on BC but most are good out to 750-900 yards. Or further than I prefer to shoot. BTW: I think Nukka the Goldendoodle was a good decoy!
  12. The gun is a Forbes 24B with an extremely long freebore. It really only shoots done bullet well but it shoots it really well. We’ve kill a couple of bulls with the 127’s and a Creed the last couple of years. Also a couple of bulls with the LRX 129 gr .277.

    What’s this from???

I don't think that is a head space issue? did you read my quote for Layne? He doesn't seem to think they are a pain.

    What’s this from???

Are you saying after firing this round it would not rechamber in the same gun? Or were there other steps in between?

    What’s this from???

By coincidence this is from Layne Simpson in Feb 2020 Shooting Times: “There are those among us who break into hives in the presence of a belted case, and while it is not actually needed on most cartridges, I have yet to experience a problem with it. Set the full-length resizing die for head spacing on the shoulder of the case rather than on its belt, and cases last as long as those with no belt.”

    What’s this from???

Belted magnums do not have to head space on the belt. I do not neck size any hunting load. It’s been my experience that when I partially size(i.e. shoulder bump/ i.e. head spacing on the shoulder) that I am also partially resizing the base also regardless of whether it’s belted or not. This has worked for me for many decades and I don’t see a reason to switch now. I agree that a belt is not needed but whether a cartridge has a belt or not does not affect my decision.

    What’s this from???

I agree it’s a sizing issue. Lance is most likely right about a shoulder bump. I have had more then one gun where the resizing die tolerances were not tight enough to reduced the base diameter enough and I’ve have to purchase a “small base die” to get the job done. L Cazador, what did you mean by Expanded head diameter and why does belted magnum matter?

    ISO Swarovski EL 12x50

    $2,600 for 2019 NIB...
  19. Like the title says new/never used Swaro 8x42 EL Range for about $800 less than Outdoorsmans price with tax included. Of course the Outdoorsmans already has their stud included (about $90) so let’s say $700 below....
  20. Not a chance. I’ll keep them for that. I’ll get more than $2500 on eBay, I just wanted to try CWT first....
  21. I’ll be in Phoenix Tuesday evening to fly out. Reduced to $2500. CWT gets the first shot then they go on eBay when I get home.
