    RIP little friend!

had to do one of the hardest thing ever in my life. about 8 months ago my little dog..."MY" first dog, was really sick so we went to the vet... she had pyometra. a bad urinary infection and her uterine walls almost burst. she was close to dying. the doc saved her with some intense surgery and also found a lump. the mass tested positive for cancer, but the doc removed all she could find. she made a quick recovery and was her friendly playful self again. she started to show signs again about 4 weeks ago and we really didn't have the funds to do the treatment they wanted us to do. she was starting to suffer, breathing really heavy and couldn't barely walk. drinking way too much and constantly having to urinate. I took her out for her morning walk and she barely made it on our usual trek around the apts. her back leg would give out and she would sit and rest for a bit. then she was starting to lose her balance. I took her out 1 more time before work and she just stood there for a bit and then fell over on her face. tears started down my face as they are now. I told my wife and we decided to take her so she could be put to rest last thursday. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do! She was an awesome dog! she wasn't a pedigree, just a mixed breed little pup my wife brought home from work. she loved the outdoors! camping was her favorite thing in the world. she has been from the Grand Canyon to Big Lake and many places in between. she would go on late archery hunts and hang out with Momma. one time I glassed a nice buck and went after it. I got down to the saddle to figure out which route would be best to take. the deer are at 110yds. Next thing I know, my dog is coming down the hill! I scolded her in a whisper and after a couple minutes she went back up the hill. I didn't need help blowing the stock, I do just fine on my own...LOL! If the squirrels weren't out she would be on lizard watch. lucked out on a few snake encounters... both of us! she once jumped off my lap out of the truck window to chase a fawn and a doe that crossed in front of us while driving! from fishing to shed hunting to hangin cameras, she loved it. So many memories! For 8 years she was my best friend! I'm going to miss her sooo much! Rest In Peace my little buddy! I Love You! You will always be in my heart and in my memories! Till we meet again...............

    Salt

I'm not sure how they would interpret "trophy rock", I was saying Dan Diamond is wrong on saying "pure salt only" trace mineral licks from livestock industries are perfectly legal. nothing against two windy or anyone else...... I use champions choice in block and granulated form. I've also used salt for pools, salt for water softeners, table salt, and iodized salt. not sure how many mines Trophy Rock has, but the story I red was from Redmond, Utah. with a minimum of 91% salt and a max of 96% salt. reading the rest of the ingredients it looks a lot like trace mineral salt from the feed store. I'm thinking the key word is "manufactured" James

that's a private pond and the owner charges or splits the fees with the "PRO" that takes clients to. it was on the cover of arizona hunter and angler one year. I think he took one of the coyotes players... captain coyote to be exact. rumored to have 10lb bass and 5lb blueguil.... I've seen pics! urban fishing..... good times! dobson ranch use to be awesome... kicked out many times! night time buzz baits what a blast! James
  8. Shoot coyotes in big numbers and you'll change your tune. Not true. I contest hunt enough to know that nobody shoots a contest with a light load. Time is of an essence in a contest and you don't want to waste time chasing a coyote down. In typical contest hunts you don't get your coyotes anyhow so why care if the pelt is picture perfect. heck.. who cares fi you have to drag it back in 2 pieces. When I've hunted the Worlds, guys are shooting to drop them in their tracks. .223 is the minimum you'll see an accomplished contest hunter use. Generally they'll go bigger. I hunted with Les Johnson a ways back and he pulled out a .22-250 and got the job done... at a distance the .223 guys wish they could. I just picked up an AR in .17 Remington from Carey Custom Rifles. Curious to see how it does on recreational coyote shooting. was referring to the pelts for $, hence the statement about the pelts. I guess I should have said people who want to save the pelts for $ James Hardly anybody in AZ hunts a coyote for its pelt. They're worth almost nothing, even out 7k hides. AZ average last year was probably $12. MISSING THE POINT.........

Want to buy trail camera lock box!

the website gives the details....depending on what you want...$34 for the lighter gauge and fifty or sixty for heavier ones. they are cut out perfect for specific cams. with all the new smaller cams sometimes homemade ones need alot of the front cut and doesn't leave much room. just had a homemade 1 done and while it will work, it's just not the same. Want to buy trail camera lock box!

consider yourself lucky... I have heard horror stories of officers being jerks and even confiscating, sighting damage to the tree. straps are no big deal... if you think your little lag bolts will keep the thieves away you are mistaken. I use lock boxes but I don't always lag bolt them... bungees or ratchet straps work fine with a wedge cut so you can get the angle you want rather than finding a stick or whatever. I mostly use the lock boxes because 1 of my cameras took a thrashing from a snooty bear that didn't like his picture taken. walked up to the spot and didn't see the lock... I thought someone stole it... got up to it and a bear had snapped the plastic cover.... Nice that the officer was civil about it and didn't act like he owns the place. James

  15. that's just silly! hunters that do it for $ even use "light loads" so they don't tear up the pelts.... and drop em dead in their tracks... with an occasional spin or 2.LOL! James

    destruction of a beautiful spring...

in addition to this.... I have witnessed, first hand, that deer arent as affected as some may think. on a ranch in mexico where i hunt, there is a natural spring, that maximum is 4sq.ft. whenever the cattle(or horses) come in, they drink it dry, and it easily takes 6-8 hours to refill (if left alone). these deer are extremely smart! whenever they hear or sense that some cattle/horses are coming, they run to the water so that they get some before its gone... my buddy learned this the hard way because he shot 2 coyotes from a blind with his bow and went to go drag them off when he heard the cattle.....he glanced up to see 2 bucks running into the water and he is outside of the blind!!! he ended up shooting one...but my point is that the deer might adapt like these deer have. i can prove my point with trail camera photos....most of the time deer are at the spring, cattle follow. My friend and i were going to pick up the camera, and we were talking fairly loud and making a bunch of noise. we came around the corner, and 3 deer spook off the spring. what does this mean???? this means that they heard us, thought we were cattle and rushed in to get water...... people, deer arent simply pushed out of an area because of cattle, they adapt to live with they cattle. cattle arent like neighborhoods....if anything we are to blame for making deer populations suffer....cattle are just bigger, less aggressive javelinas to the deer....cattle dont make it impossible for the deer to live there, just a little tougher... quite sure deer can discern the difference between cows and humans, might sound better after a couple barley pops though. james
