I keep a blunt tip for rabbits cause I love to shoot my bow. I would much rather shoot it with my bow as a confidence builder. pistol for me would be self defense be it a snake lion bear or 2 legged creep! I don't think that would be an issue as you are not hunting deer with your pistol. sometimes when we see a coyote mousing or cruising ( during archery deer) we put the stalk on him and try and call him in and if the bow shooter misses then pull out the pistol and drop him. I don't think this is a violation cause we were calling coyotes in between. Say you bow hunt the morning and go coyote calling in the afternoon? You are not actively pursuing deer so shouldn't be a problem. 1 time my brother in law and I were trying to call some foxes during the archery deer hunt. I had a rifle and he had a bow. G&F stopped checked our licenses and the routine questions and said it was sort of a grey area and gave us the stink eye as he didn't approve cause my brother in law had an archery deer tag. He was very professional and gave some friendly advise and he was on his way. James

I was set at 30 40 50 60 70, went back to 20-60 for sitting the blind now I need to switch back. push that 25 pin up to 30. 55 - 70 is a big gap and being off a little at say 25yds becomes huge at 55-70 yds. easier to judge pin gap at shorter yardage. Try it out at the range and see what is easier for you to judge. James

If you haven't seen it, it is a must see! You will be more informed for sure! I cannot believe this guy got voted into office! People that voted for him just so they wouldn't be viewed as a racist really need to wake up! I had to look at the time you are posting to wonder if you had too many cocktails!!??? some people leave notes so they can figure out if they can work out a schedule for the hunt if not move on to plan B or get there really early. to make it illegal to hunt a tank is the biggest bunch of crap I have heard! So someone makes they're own tank and the problem moves there! get a clue! people need to be responsible for their own actions! I have had nothing but good feed back from leaving a note and trying to work something out. Usually ends in trading info and a friend or 2.. If they don't respond then you better have a plan B. Of coarse there are jerks, but they are everywhere..... so how you handle yourself says a lot about you! Throwing someones blind in the tank is not a solution. There are plenty of places to hunt! not all of the 47% are non working.... a lot of them do work but because of republican and democratic supported tax credits get more out than what they put in. FIX THE TAX CODE! James

I know a guy that makes $26,000 ... if that and he claims exempt (pays none into federal taxes through out the year) and gets about $7,500 back with 2 kids. how in the heck do they let people get away with that? no he's not a full time student! did I mention they get state health insurance for their kids? check out the movie "2016"... a documentary about where we are headed if he is voted in again. haven't seen it yet but I plan on it. from my limited turkey experience they are in the area but sometimes like on my brother in law's hunt they can get pushed into another canyon or area by various reasons.. he had bear huntin dogs around the first couple days and the turkeys were on his cams everyday like clock work, but they dare no go anywhere near them dogs. He even had the dogs come up to his blind. could be weather could be something just ain't right to them. Probably best if you can locate the roost and set up before they fly down. I didn't think the turkeys had sniffers on em' (noses) but they always find the corn! LOL! James

Here is a pic from my brother in-law Scott (aka couesfinder) nothing going for 2 days opening weekend then on sunday they finally came in. they busted him drawing back so he let it fly... 13 yds on the run! James

always good to be out even though you didn't tag out! 2 weeks in december to look forward to. I had a great time out. only could get in about 6 days total. had some great deer on my cams but just couldn't put it together. Saw the buck in my avatar (the big dude in the back) running with a smaller 3x3, cross the road on the way back from glassin. saw him on the way to glass too. I put a stalk on them and got to 52yds and had a shot at the smaller guy. I was waiting for the big 1 to clear the trees. I had the smaller guy broad side for about 3 minutes and then it happened. The old breeze swirl on the back of the neck! The little guy picked his head up and nervously switched his tail! UH OH! They were feeding right towards me and they just turned 180 deg. and started walking the other way! I almost cried! I was bummed to say the least. I got greedy! I have never been so close to such a huge coues buck! My heart was pounding so hard in my head! Adrenaline gotta love it! NEVER LOOK A GIFT COUES IN THE MOUTH! LOL! come on december! James

saw it from Mt Ord this morning! just as the blue light was coming on. Pretty cool looking! only glassed a coyote, coues doe and a muley doe w/ fawn no bucks for my last ditch effort! great morning though! James
