I'm with you on the fumbling rangefinder while trying to get a shot on a buck when precious seconds count. I do like knowing the yardage as it makes my confidence soar. I think back to when I hunted with my Dad and we were in unit 27 and we walked up on a blue grouse and my Dad pulled back his compound bow he had forever and with no sights no range finder, he straight smoked that bird at 42 paces! I always asked him how he could judge the distance so precise and he simply said "practice". He said when he was a kid the neighbors would pay him to kill the gophers around their farms and he used a stick and string and only had a couple arrows that he couldn't afford to lose. I think I will try to be less reliant on the range finder for archery spot and stalk as it has messed me up more than a few times. While my blunder this weekend was more from my own stupidity and a sort of greed than the range finder fumble . I think there is too much going on for me when you are so close to a nice buck 1 less thing I have to worry about. As far as technology.... to each his own. Technology will never stop advancing. Heck our great grand kids may come up with a smart arrow that will lock onto the target and double lung em' every time... Hahaha! It's up to each of us to instill your own traditions and ethics in our kids and grand kids and hope they will pass it on. I think Casey said it best "if you don't like it don't use it" James

negative, the show I saw was Wisconsin and they are protected. here is a Wisconsin public TV show about them. Guy says they don't have to have pink eyes to be albino. still a form of albinism. check it out. http://wpt2.org/npa/iw20090326whiteDeer.cfm James

I've thought about this for a while....... While it is first come first serve you have a couple choices to prevent such happenings. 1) use a hang on stand and take the climbing sticks with you. 2) use a climbing stand and take it with you when you leave. A ladder stand (which I have) is subject to someone else coming to sit it. You can take the seat but someone could bring their own. You can do the same with a blind (Thanks to a tip from TJ) build a brush blind big enough to pop your blind inside then take it with you. I get mad at people who leave their stands up for years on end. in those cases (to me, others may disagree) it becomes public property. those who do that make me feel like I'm invading if I were to put mine up next to theirs. Pack it in pack it out... at least by the end of the season. I know of about 10 stands that have been there for more than 3 years some even longer to me that is kinda lazy considering some of the are not that far in. I do my own thing to prevent confrontation but getting tired of some people staking claim to some areas I'd like to hunt with out someone acting like it's "his" area. James

Obama prolly has to sign off on that and since you're donating your time he'll prolly farm it out and pay big$ to some other guy and say he created more jobs! James
