Horse packing ruled illegal in wilderness areas
JLW replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
this kind of talk is already here in az. I go onto the hiking websites to scout out trails and see an area before wasting my gas and they are always complaining about the dung bombs on the trails. Especially trails in the Kaibab. James -

if you get cell service there use 1 of those types so it e-mails the pic of the perp. and use solar power. If they destroy it hopefully it will e-mail a photo. otherwise I think fry's electronics has a wireless set up that we use at work not too expensive. During the October cow elk hunt there was a rash of burglaries along the fr 125 near mormon lake they even took 1 guys mattress out of his fith wheel! I saw on the news they caught 2 guys in the oak creek area robbing houses........ James

I had a bronco when gas was like $1.85 gal. I now have s10 blazer with v6 4.3 vortec. comes in 2 door or 4 door. I have 30 x 9.5 x 15" no lift... prolly will hold 31x10 skid plate 4x4 shifter on the floor gets 16 - 20 mpg mine is a 93' nothin special... a definite beater you can pick up a 2000 - 2003 model at the auction for about 2500 - $3000 government maintained. Lifts are cheap springs or blocks. It's like a cheap rhyno! lol! here is an auction site they have them 2 a month it's by 35ave and grand not sure when preview day is where you can check out the cars but there is an auction tomorrow. they have some troopers, a sidekick, exploders , s10 blazers. not all vehicles here are govn't maintained though. http://sierraauctions.auctionflex.com/showlots.ap?co=28719&weid=23540&weiid=0&archive=n&lso=lotnumasc&pagenum=1&lang=En James

true true... 3 years ago the forest service was up by stoneman lake handing out maps and saying this was all in the works. I thought it would make some of the areas better for hunting minus the jerks that disobey rules anyway. Case in point I walked into the quiet area and low and behold a guy driving in there when it was closed. we'll have to see how it all works out. Sucks when you walk into an area and there is a two track you didn't know about and someone is driving around... but that can be from poor planning/scouting on my part. Remember the bushnell tanks... temporary closed to vehicles.... I can't even remember what year it was... 2002 maybe and still closed. I do like what they did with bulldog canyon although plenty of people go where they are not supposed to. James

you'll need to buy your way back in! a fee for limited use! james

yep anyone that disagrees is a lazy whiner! based on anyone who commented we are all lazy hunters! maybe you should think before you type. I think it will benefit the game animals but the restrictions are a bit too much. like stated already they should have enforced the laws they had in place. I don't have a quad so most of my hunting is done in the back of my truck with my roll bar recliner.... j/k of course. It will make some of the stock tanks and dirt tanks that are near what will now be hiking trails a lot better barring the occasional jerk that doesn't follow rules anyway. those jerks will always drive cross country where prohibited! they should confiscate their quads or whatever vehicle they used! the 30ft rule is a joke and you know it! James

nice finds! thanks for sharing the pics! James

this will be most peoples attitude and until there is proper signage most people even knowing the closure is in effect will be driving on every road and the smart azz off road drivers will continue to drive off road even when there is proper signage. James

last october, while at the bar at mormon lake, a gentleman was telling me about a rash of tweeker thieves that were robbing peoples trailers while they were out hunting... even taking 1 guys matress. definitely a good idea to put up some trail cams and catch those scumbags! James

we went through some of this last year or 2 ago. I think we found there were restrictions in the wilderness areas about feeding the animals. the forest service website specifically says game and fish sets any and all regulations for game animals. I tried searching for the post but cannot remember title or which forum... maybe trail cams. It might have been the gentleman that had a warden tell someone he knew that his camera and salt were set illegally or something to that affect. which seems to be about the time people quit posting a lot of their pics on here! Thanks G$F! James
