    any luck

Bill, Looks like 2A and 4A are the closest to your white mountain hideaway! I heard 2A was fun to call but never been there. Remember March 1st - May 31st and shotgun only and coyotes only! Night vision allowed James

    Nice One!!!

his arms are extended... makes it appear bigger like when someone sits way behind a bear and the bear looks like the size of a grizzly. Not to take anything away from that fish.. nice and fat! for sure in the hog category! James

    any luck

have you tried no howls and just distress sounds? maybe like a vole squeak to start off with a real low volume. I had a coyote come on a string once when my batteries were dead and the volume was so low I could barely hear it. I stopped the sound and grabbed my hand call. when I looked up he was on a dead run! high pitch sound will drive them crazy! I think they will circle the sound most definitely but if you spray down it may increase your chances. Keep us posted! I think a lot of people are interested and would like to hear about your outings. Good luck! James

    any luck

they might be winding you? are you using hand calls or electronic caller? I have yet to get out and try it... still need to get some stuff together. are you using white light or a red lens? I would try to stay in a little more open country. too easy to get winded in the thicker stuff. They shouldn't have a problem committing to the sound. In the day they might be shy about coming across a big open area but shouldn't at night. Do you mark the spots on a gps that you call or are you just going to familiar areas? Just curious I can't wait to give it a try! I bet a coyote decoy would be deadly! You know how territorial they can be. A couple challenge howls and it's on! then again maybe I'm over thinking! Lol! Coyote hunting.

for what it's worth I've had some luck north of benson/pomerane from the cascabell rd go north 15 miles or so to 3 links rd or you can come in from wilcox on the airport rd. The 3 links ranch is pretty cool lots of stuff to call. I think it is private property or at least you cross his private property and they have always been real nice. The border patrol may check you out though. Allen flats is pretty cool. Seen lots of mule deer and antelope as well as called in a few yotes. James

    Coyote hunting.

how close to I10 makes no diff. the wind on the other hand If it is windy and I mean 15+mph call down wind so your sound will carry better. A couple years ago the world championships up near Seligman the guys that won it were callin in real windy conditions and they would call for 15 minutes or so and then pick up and walk 150yds or so and call again. They called in 15 coyotes in 2 days. Good luck! James

    Coyote hunting.

well being so late in the season you're prolly gonna want to sit a bit longer IMO 30-45 min. coyotes have been shot at by everyone all season long... hunters, ranchers ect. young ones have gained some smarts and are a little more wary than they were earlier in the year. mating season may still be ongoing but definitely paired up, so you may want to throw out some coyote vocalizations... female whimpers maybe some lone howls or interrogation howls. they still gotta eat, so throw out your best distress calls. I've had good luck with woodpecker distress in the forest. Good luck and give em' h e l l! James

    Weird deaths!

Not death but sure would have been..... We were driving back to the motel room from launching boats for a fishing tournament at windy hill. We were between fr 486? and fr 618 ( walnut canyon enclosure) on the 188 and all of a sudden a coyote chases 3 does out onto the highway nearly running into the boat trailer in front of us! As we came to a stop the coyote latched onto one of the does' neck right in the middle of the road! I didn't have a weapon but I sure was ready to choke that coyote with my bare hands. I jumped out and started yelling at the coyote like he was a domestic dog! He finally let go but didn't want to. He looked at me and looked at the doe, she looked like she was in shock and I tried to scare him off and he took off up the hill and the doe ran across the road to meat her girlfriends and they all stopped and watched us get back into the truck. She was bleeding a bit from where the coyote had bit her on the neck but I'm sure she recovered. They all watched us drive off as if to say thanks. James
  17. had an officer call me back today and says as stated above it was an over site on there part but it is legal to hunt the M units and said just to follow the general regs that were printed. He said no one is going to get a ticket or fine. IMO there is no way to know if someone was able to get the on-line regs. Now back to the M's so I can stick me a coyote with my bow! On a side note... made 7-8 stands in 23 and got skunked! Did call in a bobcat on the last stand but my partner didn't see him as he was 75yds above me I couldn't point it out to him! He stayed for like 10 minutes at about 240 yds or so all I had was a shotgun! Tried switching sounds, lip squeekin, shakin a decoy feather and nadda! when I turned the caller off and he was gone!
