when I first started callin coyotes I called a couple taxidermist in the back of the g&f regs and actually 1 guy said he would take em off my hands and pay up to 25$ for them if in good shape. he said not to skin em cause most people don't do it the way he likes. said just bring em whole and he would take care of the rest. then I got into bow hunting and haven't gone as much as I used to. I think I like how they look when you skin em out in the sock method. I read they sell at the fur trader show then the buyers sell to china and they make jackets and such outta them. in predator xtreme magazine they talk a lot about the fur trade and the high/low value of various pelts.

a buzzards' gotta eat same as a worm. my dad used to sell the pelts but he's dead now and I was too young to retain any of that. anything to help the deer and antelope out a little. james

cheap shot indeed! this is not good! shouldn't they be consulted before they take any "measure" to the legislators? I mean this is why they are there right? obviously it doesn't work that way, being they tried to back door 2072. these people are sick in the head! james -

I have seen plenty of waterhole that have fish and always wondered how they got there. from a flood? from birds? I sat a waterhole the other day that had hundreds of goldfish. how did they get there? did someone put them there? just curious...... will post up pics in a little while. james

blake, your pms must be full. I just sent you about 3 paragraphs and it says you can't receive any new messages. I suck at typing so that was a drag! James

I saw a show on those. the waterhole can be dry for years but as soon as it rains enough to hold water long enough they eggs hatch and start growing. I think they said they were toad of some kind. they start eating each other when the pond runs out of food. they look like waterdogs but that's just a metamorphism stage. james

ethics are up to the shooter.... everyone is different. sure people can and do shoot out to 100 yds but the fact remains that at that distance with a bow a little off at say 20yds is huge at 70 80 or 100yds I have a pin out to 70 but more comfortable 50yds and in at the range but I practice out to seventy. I like to try to get as close as possible. year before last I missed 2 shots... 52yds and 48yds same day three hours apart from a ground blind. I have read on here seasoned bow hunters (which I am not) missing shots. stuff happens and happens fast. for me the key is to practice as much as possible so when in the field things feel natural and automatic. I even bring my bow to work and sneak out back for a little while . but everyone knows when you get on a good 1 and the heart rate elevates it is a lot different than the range! buck fever is real and can make anyone get the shakes and deep breathing! hard to hold the pin steady! I think I read on here that when out scouting they try to stalk deer, elk or whatever so when the time comes for the hunt they are used to being around the animals and helps them keep control of the situation as far as the buck fever... can't remember who but it sounds like good advice. just my thoughts. james

tough hunt! owner here at work has 600 acre ranch, but in the archery only (rincon basin hunt) guy here at work shot a cow elk not long ago somewhere along the little colorado river. 5 of the ranchers family also connected. right place right time. just not anywhere to glass from so it makes it tough. the tamrisk tree(sp) are so thick! maybe better glassing down by the chevlon wildlife area. I've been trying to get him to let me go stick 1 with my bow but it hasn't happened yet. maybe if you hit the rut with a decoy that could be deadly! I am dying to give it a try myself! james

they are opportunistic. a free meal is a free meal. if they are hungry they will do what they did... come in hard and fast! they can be called any time of day. also they are territorial. sounds like you are having some luck! keep at it! some days are better than others! I call all day if it is cool out! james
