I'm sure they would take your hunting rights away! Set a hearing and throw the book at you! I screwed up my wife last year! She was set up to take the shot... about 380yds. Good light but he had his head down feeding away from us. I told her to hold on a minute to make sure. I knew it was a whitetail but started second guessing. It all happened fast! When we first glassed him up I could see his rack gleaming in the sun. We didn't waste time, we closed the distance as much as possible. I ranged him at 384 yds slightly down hill. As she got set up I was glassing him and started getting the fever! She said ok I'm ready! I was like hold on let me make certain it's not a muley! So as I glassed him he started moving slowly while feeding up the hill behind some shrub and over the other side of the hill with no shot! Better to not find out what would happen. I think there is a section in the back of the book that gives penalties for taking game out of season or without a tag. james

I'd say you might have to bring it home and leave it set up around the house and see if it acts normal for a week or so. it's not cold enough to blame it on that..... thanks for sharing the pics though! james

I personally wouldn't mess with someone else's camera but have spoke to a couple of people that don't mind if people do.... 1 guy that stopped us and asked us "if we had been back to a certain tank" wich we hadn't yet. He was fuming someone jacked his camera! I asked if he had it locked up and he said no, that it was just hangin on a fence on the tank! He said " I don't mind if people check out the pics, but just don't take my shoot!" pretty trusting...... another person on here my brother inlaw knows doesn't lock them either. I guess some people don't mind. My Dad taught me not to mess with other peoples stuff.... period! james

I've never hunted coyotes and you've got my curiosity up. What do you use them for after the hunt (food, hide, both)? Kevin I've given some away but mostly just saving some fawns. I've seen 1 coyote take down a doe right in front of me! they eat more deer than most people think! I would like to get some of those big dogs tanned up and sewn into a blanket! The ones in 5b get huge. I shot 1 that went well over 40#s Nothing like the rush when they come charging in!

I call bs on this one! My wife made me try this last year!!! HaHa! james

something is better than nothing that's for sure like stated above for what I've spent on crappy stuff; binos, tripods, spotting scopes; I could have bought something decent and got a lot more out of it. Have you ever been glassing and your crappy tripod is sticky and won't turn right and you just want to smash it on the rocks?! these guys have way more experience that I do but I concur, binos are more important than a spotter. good binos on a tripod are even better! But it's nice to be able to put horns on something that is way out. I am in the saving up for something better mode right now.... haha! PS I have nikons also...... yeah they suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! james

My brother inlaw put a hole in my Expedition, just missing the gas tank.... same thing click - BOOM! His was an older model 7 I think he bought it from Bear Mountain. The wierd thing was he had to take the safety off to open the bolt!? Another friend had purchased a savage new in the box. His did the same thing. That is scary stuff! James -
bustin your tail versus easier locations
JLW replied to livinthedream's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Depends on how much time you can devote to scouting/hunting. If you haven't started to scout for a pack in type hunt then it could be tough to locate deer. There are lots of deer close to roads. I've blown so many stalks on deer that were not far from the road..... Last year I blew stalks twice for my wife tryng to to get a little closer or get a better look! I should change my handle to BLOWNSTALKER! One year we were hunting chasing muleys all over sunday came so we start heading home. We stop off at a very popular place and there was one camper there, we just drove on by to our glassin spot. Get out the gear and set up to glass. within 5 minutes my brother-inlaw says "I've got one!" After looking him over quickly he lets me try and put a stalk on him. Nice 4x4 Muley with some trash on him! Got to about 100 yds and the wind was switching and he caught me moving a bit... acted like he didn't see anything just kept on feeding. Then he just broke out of there! While I was hiking out my brother-inlaw talked to the camper and he proceeded to tell my bro inlaw he hasn't seen anything all weekend! He had no clue that deer was 400yds from his fith wheel! The deer are where you find them for sure. Don't put so much pressure on yourself it can make it a miserable time! Have fun! James
