Stupid question.... Why is it ok for game and fish to bolt camera boxes to trees but if we get caught doing it we are threatened with fines and such? Last night on the wildlife views show they were showing studies on bobcats and mt lions around the outskirts of tucson and i'll be damned if the camera box they showed wasn't bolted to the tree! BS!!! I guess the laws don't apply to all! james

Bolted? What size bolt, length, did it have a lock washer? Me thinks that they didnt "bolt" a camera to a tree without a permit. I call internet BS. Would it be okay for the thousands of game cameras out there to be "bolted" to trees? pretty sure when they removed the camera you can see the bolt/screw in the LOCK BOX and as far as a permit.... I doubt it james

I rolled like that for a while. bought an external speaker from sportsman's warehouse called lots of yotes in this way.... the only thing I didn't like was you can't control the volume with remote with or without the external speaker, so a lot of times I would roll out the wire on the speaker and just hold the whole unit. I have a preymaster set up for sale $70 with extra external speaker and 6 cards I believe..... not wireless but gets it done. james

you're so right! on a smaller scale same crap at work so i should know better! I was correct when I said, "stupid questions" still a bunch of BS

great write up! congrats on the success! 3 very nice bulls! sucks someone would do that! I have heard stories of this happening.... but thought they were just stories because no one would really take an animal someone else shot and claim it as there own!!!???? It may sound as if things are worse but part of it is the fact there is this forum to tell the stories so we here so much more about it. There are scumbags throughout the world....sad to say; even in hunting! maybe next hunt take pictures of all the other camps/vehicles and if it happens again you can see who pulled out and hunt them down! j/k james

so on the card game and fish sends...... did you wound any animal(s) that you didn't recover? uhhhhhhhh? 9 I would be so sick over the 1st one that I couldn't think about anything but that 1 let alone go after another one! I got sick from missing a shot last year and I didn't even wound the animal. james

my wife was reading on facebook in the realtree link. she was telling me about deer dying from bluetongue disease by the dozens. she was reading a tweet from michael waddell said there were dead deer everywhere on the milk river ranch. looked it up..... looks like it can be pretty nasty! here is a link i found. http://www.biggamehunt.net/blogs/bghjournal/dozens-deer-dying-montana%E2%80%99s-milk-river-valley james

Looking for a good dove recipe...
JLW replied to az41mag's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
the game and fish website looks like they have a couple of good recipes. i marinate in soy sauce & teryaki sauce with a few garlic cloves. but take the breast plate out first. then scewer them up with your favorite veggies and grill em up. or take the breast plate out and cut the tops off of jalepenos and take the seads out. fill with cream cheese. wrap the breast around the jalepeno and wrap a piece of bacon around the breast and place a tooth pick too hold it. then grill it up. james -
was wondering if this happens often? was also wondering if bear hunters kill the mom not knowing the cub was around or? pretty sure it would be hard for a young bear to survive the winter on it's own. james

I have a johnny stewart preymaster caller I have 6 memory cards with 4 sounds each all cards are predator sounds... coyote/bobcat this has the big speaker with a small amp and rechargable battery. $80 obo will throw in a portable speaker that doesn't need the amp or for an extra $20 can send pics if requested thanks for looking! james

Chris, i'm pretty sure each land department has there own set of rules and laws... blm, state trust land, national forest land and so on. check the laws of the land you're hunting. pretty sure those are common violations. what if you cut off the part that screws in the tree and use a ratchet strap? or weld a flat plate on that part with holes in each end for the hooks on the ratchet strap? just a thought. i think the same thing when in my tree stand and want to screw in hooks for my bow and gear. i think BLM posted last year they were handing out tickets where he was huntin last year...

sent my buddy up there 2 years ago.... he has no experience but he called in two bears just working the medows near hanegan medow both had cubs, but he got some really cool photos and video. he was with his girlfriend so i'm sure he wasn't huntin too hard... lol! james

+1 too much public land! IMO it will lead to more poaching and more accidents! James I go spotlighting fairly often and I have never seen any law enforcement in the woods at night ever. If I wanted to go poach at night I could do that now, if hunters were allowed to legally hunt predators at night when they are most active this would be puting allies in the forest at night and would reduce poaching or at least increase the catch rate of poachers i disagree... when shots become the norm at night it will become like a car alarm in a parking lot and people won't give it a second thought. but poaching is not my main concern. stray bullets are. pretty sure they will make it restricted to shotgun (like raccoon) only. i would be ok with restricted weapon. anyhow for that simple reason. that"s all we need is the antis to have more gripe. not all so called hunters are allies! i know of several unethical hunters that i wouldn't want as my allies. if everyone thought as you did we would be ok James
