1 of my favorite places! thanks for sharing! thats too bad about the fire... we almost always glass deer and elk and turkeys on that hill. some of the biggest bachelor heards of mule deer i've seen around there. james

+1 i just put 2 of mine out last year i would only leave them out during the week drive 1 1/2 hour after work so they wouldn't be out on the weekend. man that sucks! i hate a corn baggin' thief more than anything!!!

now that unit 22 and 23 are closed for the Dec. archery hunt we hit up 21 enough water for day, assorted snacks.. sardenes crackers til' it gets dark then hall a$$ to camp verde to crusty's pizza. let me tell you after eating snacks it is the best! james

set up your mineral lick on a trail leading to water it will help them pose for your camera

I started scouting this weekend for some new spots for archery deer. Found a couple of waterholes via google earth.Went and checked them out. 1 had a camera on it, the other had an older hang on type treesand on it. You could tell it was older , it had plywood that was weathered and carpet. I opted not to hang my cameras on either. I respect the 1st hole with the camera but the 1 with the treestand I would really like to hunt. Both had really good tracks... cats,bear,deer and turkey! I know hanging a camera or a treestand doesn't claim the spot. My question is What would be the ethical or brotherly thing to do? In the area we saw a huge buck! (It looked 2 times as big as the does we saw) Any input or comments would be a big help. James

I know..... I should get my long bow, cedar arrows,home made arrowheads, buck skin thong and chase them through the forrest like you do.

we do alot of spot n stalk and definately see alot more action in the Dec. - Jan. hunts. in the early archery hunt we see alot of smaller bucks but by Oct. the big boys start comming out of the woods... so to speak. I believe scouting as much as possible has alot to do with success in any hunt. James

Thanks again for suggestions. I've sat a couple of ground blinds but usually end up spot n stalk. I must have adhd.... hard to sit all day We found some real good runs between the 2 waterholes I think we'll start there. James
