Others can’t? I’d think anyone can if they can get the tags. Back east, if you don’t kill them they will die of disease or get hit by a car. So inventory is not limited. But it I hear ya. 👍

Nope. I lived in Africa for a while, them lions need shot. They eat a lot of people, you never hear about that. im not offended that some is successful. Just tossing out an ethics question. Is it ethical to shoot more than you can eat, when supply is limited. opine, please. But give a reason.

Ok here’s one for ya, what about pro’s? i was watching one hunting show where a guy, I think it was Cameron Haynes, said he killed 6 bulls in one year. Im thinking, did he eat all 6 of those bulls? Who needs to kill 6 bulls? if he gave 4 of those bulls away, It’s almost like robbing 4 hunters from opportunity to harvest a bull. While im sure every one of those hunts was perfectly legal, is it ethical to take more than you need? Im just asking.

All you gotta do, is draw blood, forfeit your tag. I know it seems unenforceable, but it will still put fear in people. if you hired a plumber who can’t plumb, who’s fault is that? Why punish everyone one for the few that mess things up. Free enterprises is a right, not a privilege. If you have to earn it, it’s a privilege. We’ve lost that in this country. We need to take it back.

Say what? I had had a clean pass through at 50 yards last year with a mechanical. Talk about dying fast.... id quit hunting before I used a fixed blade. Well, maybe not, but still.

Sometimes the hunting community has to step in. If it was someone I knew, I’d be up there in a flash with pack, lights and knives, and teach the man to track. Should have been done on bull number 1. Of course, I know we all have to work and stuff, and I get that. We can be keyboard cowboys, but some of his buddies need to step in and help the poor guy out. I don’t know who he is or who his friends are, maybe he doesn’t have any.

I know for myself, when I first started hunting, I wounded a few deer because I didn’t know about bow torque. I would hunt with a glove on in January because it was cold outside. And I would always miss high and to the left. Then I learned about bow torque and started taking the gloves off before the shot. Animals started dying and my field shooting improved unbelievably. I don’t think I’ve lost a big game animals since I learned about bow torque . But that was a few years ago, and it was just a matter of education. I think a lot of guys are just impatient in tracking also. If you don’t hit an animal in the bread basket, particularly an elk, you’ve got to back out for several hours before you look for it. I think a lot of guys just look for it for a couple hours, bump it, can’t find it, and then keep hunting.

Welp, after reading up on nutrition and health, I’ve discovered how incredibly good for you bone broth is. I’ve been really influenced by dr axe’s book, “eat dirt.” now I feel guilty about all the bones I’ve thrown away over the years. I’ve always considered the meat to be the best part, but now I’m not so sure the bones aren’t better. So this year I decided to make organic bone broth out of my deer bones. We’ll see how it goes. But in any case, waste not, want not.

So, we sample the goods tonight. The wife made deer burger lentil soup with deer bone stock for a base. It tasted great. Hopefully as good for me as all the hype.

This is the truth. Most guys in the Midwest only have 5 to 20 acres to hunt on, so getting deer on your property is essential through bating. I don’t have a single problem with it. It’s still hunting it’s still awesome. public land areas are different.

There’s a lot of info on the web and YouTube about how to make it. But it’s my first rodeo with this, so we’ll see how it goes.

Yeah, but some guys are just into long range. nothing wrong with that. im into bow hunting. That’s just my thing. im not going to criticize a guy for how he wants to get it done.

My wife came from a hunting family, and got me hooked on 1 gallon freezer bags. So much faster than paper. Still only took a couple hours. I’m not a fan of processors. I’ll keep my money and know what happened to my deer and elk.

16 dollar coolers don’t have drains. Lol. But the meat was still ice cold after sitting in the cooler for a a day or two.

Welp, i knew I wouldn’t have time to put effort on this hunt, so I took a day off and took my boys and built a bunch of blinds on tanks in 23 and 22. I wanted to focus on 23 cause my son has the youth elk tag for 23. I wanted to get some places where I could hunt before and after work, and still put in a respectable work day. I also wanted a mule deer. I’ve shot plenty of white tails. I struggled with seeing bucks at first, as I had nothing but does coming in. I did take a swing and a miss at a fork horn one day. I also gave up a lot of afternoons to hunt doves with my kids. Finally things came together as a couple bucks showed up. There was a bruiser 4x in there, but he never even came close to offering a shot. I drew on the 3x, but he got nervous and started to leave, so I switched to the 2x, and guessed 40. I’ve missed more opportunities over the years fiddling with my rangefinder on nervous deer. welp, 40 worked out great. Double lung shot, he took a couple leaps and crashed. i didn’t get any field photos, as I had to bust it to get to work. I had to drag it out and beat the band to make my appointments. I’ll try to work on getting pics when I get the skull cleaned up.

I went to big lake a couple weeks ago. we wasted our time all morning, so we packed up and went to the black river and caught fish there. big lake looked like green sewer.
