Stopping Grizzly Bear with a 10MM Carbine
bojangles replied to 44MagMike's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Is there a link that’s missing? -
That group is shading the truth, the ranch in question is bar x.they work pretty close with different wildlife organizations from around here to keep waters going and get new waters going. The documents they provide from the 70’s is definitely not how things are done anymore.all ranches have a rest rotation system that prevents over grazing this is a text I got this morning regarding this thread from a rancher/hunter from unit 23. I don’t think he’ll mind if I share it.

I’m for cattle. some years I get skunked and still want a steak.

Cash price?
-
I agree. While there are mule deer scattered through the entire unit, they do seem to be pocketed holding to particular canyons and foothills. I’d look for areas that have decent year round water sources in the desert. i have the best luck in fingered foothills and canyons that have a lot of texture.

I could use those. Not sure what arrangement could be made. I am in Payson.

How does it shoot?

You might be legit, but odds are not in your favor. I’d only do ftf transactions with someone who wasn’t well known on the board.

Wow!! Congrats to your dad. I hear about good results from C&S, my neighbor used them on a 17d sheep hunt and was thrilled with the results. i also know Jeremy Ulmer is la local to those units and has killed both rocky and desert bighorns with his bow, I would consider him also.

So, what is the password?

That’s a mere $2,184,000. bet g&f is happy.

10mm for grizzly bear defense
bojangles replied to bojangles's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
So I shot the xdm, 10 mm. Its really snappy, even with the mild target ammo. I got a couple boxes of hsm bear load, but want to try the penetrators also. I haven’t tried the bear load yet. The trigger is terrible, and will need work. I’ll need a lot of practice, as I think it will be difficult to be stalwart with an angry bear charging. The 15 round mag is certainly comforting. I honestly think a slug gun would be more comforting, but it is a cumbersome thing to lug around. -
Wow. Congrats!! just pick the one that is most comfortable to shoot, and that you can shoot most accurately. All three brands are solid.

I picked up some factory loads for my 300 win mag. I grabbed some 200 grain Honrady ELD-X. It seems some people love 'em, and some people hate 'em. What are your thoughts on them for large game? Elk, moose, etc.

interesting. looks like separation. how big was the bear?

Sounds exciting. Keep us posted on the details when you get back.

10mm for grizzly bear defense
bojangles replied to bojangles's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I’m worried about target acquisition with a revolver, and double action accuracy. They say even a 44 mag won’t stop a grizzly attack unless it’s in the spine or brain. There’s a case where a guy was killed by a grizzly lately and it appeared he didn’t have a round in the pipe of his glock. That’s why I’m leaning xdm, you have the chamber indicator. a 12 gauge with slugs is also recommended, but can be cumbersome while fishing or dressing wild game. nothings perfect, I guess. -
If glue Down vinyl planking then yes, you have to tear out the tile. If a waterproof style click lock vinyl planking (spc or wpc)then no,all you have to do is float the grout joints with floor patch. Let it set up. Make sure the floor is level and dry. And then you can install a floating floor right on top. If you want to do a glue down floor, you have to tear up all the way down to the concrete. And then Sand the concrete to make sure it is perfectly clean. i recommend paradigm flooring. Some of the best on the market. i have a showroom in Payson if your interested and in the neighborhood. i am a licensed flooring contractor.
