only for rifle hunts. Urban bowhunting has been legal in Arizona until April 6, 2019, as i've been told. Now it's illegal, "because of our changing demographic", as i was told by our unit manager. Urban hunting is a staple in our hunting economy, that's why we have crossbows. (not legal in archery season, of course) But to say that this is now wrong, is ridiculous. One of the case points was that a homeowner found an arrow in the side of his house in pine. This was used in argument for the rule change. However, just because someone has an arrow in the side of their house, doesn't mean urban hunting should be banned. What it means is, their neighbor needs a better backstop when he's sighting in his broad heads.

cervid urine was banned a few years ago. 1/4 mile just passed, as i've been told. i haven't seen it in the regs yet. we will see. It has passed already in certain hunt units, not sure if it's statewide yet. I know it was up for vote as a statewide rule, can't find confirmation if it passed or not. I will edit the "can" to "may" cause i'm not sure yet.

i've run into a slight surplus of 12 gauge waterfowl ammo, and a slight deficit of 20 gauge waterfowl ammo. I've got some kent fast steel #1 in 12, and a few older boxes of remington and federal waterfowl ammo, and i'd like to trade a couple of boxes of 12 for a couple of boxes of 20, looking for #1 or similar. i'm in the payson area. if you are local, or happen to be passing through, and would like 20 for 12 in a trade, let me know.

My 11 year old son is. He's having a hard time swinging my mossberg goose gun. He's gonna hafta get a youth sized 20 so he can get on those birds, and not dislocate his shoulder. lol.

We are planning to go to Missouri for a snow goose hunt😎 hope it it works out, lol.

I had a bittersweet archery hunt. In december i hunted muleys, but the bucks didn't show themselves until 26th. I put on a couple of good stalks, but without a spotter, it was a shot in the dark. Every time i dropped off the edge on a buck, i was in the wrong spot and got busted. I stalked a decent 4x4, but got bested. I had a forked horn at 30 yards, then 10 yards on a couple different occasions, but i was reluctant to draw. So January rolled around, and i headed high for whitetail. First week or so was slow, then i found i had a coyote problem. After they moved on, the deer started showing themselves. I ranged a large buck, near 100' at 78 yards, behind me. The doe he was dogging came in to 60 yards. If he had followed her, i'd be buying another bonus point. Instead he started to walk away from me. I held for 80, and missed a smidge low. It was along poke, but it felt good when i let it fly. I've practiced extensively at 80, and shoot pretty well. Unfortunately, the buck was closer to 86-88 yards. Frustrating. I was able to get out for a few hours, a week later, and a smaller buck came in. He was probably a 3 1/2 year old. but i was cold, and hungry, and he wouldn't sit still. I drew, but every time he stopped, i didn't have a shot. I held as long as i could, but i was shaking like crazy when he finally stepped out at 45 and gave me a shot. I couldn't get the pin locked on his vitals, so i just let down. I was hoping he would present another shot, but he played cat and mouse with me for another 15-20 minutes and never presented another shot. That was it for me.

i read everything i could from dwight. he kind of "mentored" me in that way for bowhunting. Bowhunter magazine is the only magazine i get, and i got it just so i could read Dwight.

My libertarian mind agrees with this some what. Let people destroy themselves if they want. If there wasn’t a demand, there wouldn’t be a supply. Our drug problem is self inflicted anyways.

Military support, to kill cartel kingpins and workers.

A friend of mine who is a cop in Payson just did a drug bust and caught $730,000 worth of drugs in the trunk of a guys car. The drug cartel is live and well. Maybe a wall would help. But I understand the plight of the Mexican people. The cartel runs rampant down there and a lot of people just come up here to try to escape their death grip. In the town where I stayed last summer the cartel came in and shot 15 boys, who ran drugs for them. While we were on our way down there they found eight man hanging from a bridge in a nearby town. A lot of people just want to get away from that cartel lifestyle and I can understand their wanting to up here. I think the solution would be for the military to help the Mexican government take on the cartel. There needs to be a soft war against the drug runners.

i've been watching mules in 22. only buck i've seen is a fork horn; haven't seen the big boys yet.

1) find doe trails in ambush-able areas. (saddles, thickets, water holes, etc) 2) build stands and blinds with several options for varying winds 3)wait for rut to kick in and hunt from 8 am to 3 pm 4) shoot buck behind hot doe
