Got my answer. Thanks

I was thinking about getting a Boyds or Richards MF for a Turk M38 barreled action I just got back from Shaw. I'm not very handy with the wood working tools. Does anyone here do any stock work or know of someone in the valley? Would love a stock that resembles a 2010 CDL. TIA BJ

I posted a thread about wanting to write an BC for the Android OS, but someone beat me to it. Its called Shooter. I haven't downloaded it, but BoneCollector did. You may want to PM him and ask for a first hand account. Here is a link to the thread within it there is a link to a review by someone else with screen shots. I have to admit the design is much more feature rich then what I was planning.

SO IF I GET DRAWN for the up coming 2010 deer season, I'll probably be using my new-to-me Turk M38 in a 6.5x55 Swedish. Has anyone had any experience with this caliber using a 140gr bullet? With this caliber in Arizona for deer? TIA

A while back I was a little strapped for cash. I wanted to sell my 30-06. 10/22, and S&W 1911 Scandium. The 30 is a Stevens 200 with an all wood Savage stock and Timney trigger, with less than 200 rounds though it, I was asking $300 w/ scope. The 10/22 is heavily modified (the receiver is the only original piece left), again I was asking $300 with the scope. The 1911 was a NIB ($800) impulse buy and has had less than 200 rounds through it. I was asking $400. I was told at time the only firearm I would get any money for was the 1911. Well things are much better now and I don't have to sell anything (although I do have a Remington 799 22-250 sitting in a box and has never been fired). Here is my question. There is a guy selling the following firearms, are these considered good deals to anyone? The 7mm Rem Mag XCR is listed on Bud's NIB for around $812 (est.). The BDL is $75 cheaper without a stock. My inquiry is not about the guy selling the rifles, but more about use gun prices. The 7mm-08 Varmint Special is basically a factory stock rifle, in excellent condition. $575. The 222 Rem BDL is pretty much factory, with the exception of permanent sling swivels in place of studs. Exc, $550. The 7mm Rem Mag XCR is stainless with the factory stock. Exc, $550. The 7mm Rem Mag BDL barrelled action only is exc, $475. The 243 Model Seven is a stainless gun in a walnut stock, exc, $625. The 223 M700 is an ADL with a Douglas barrel in a Brown Precision stock, bead blasted and blued, exc, $800.

Awwww thank you!!!

See I thought about Gun Broker and Auction Arms, but that doesn't really answer my question. If someone posts a Remington 700 XCR in a 7mm Rem Mag with a starting bid of $700. Then that's where they think the price should start. I would need access to the data from auctions that have ended with a sale and did not have a starting bid. Even then it would be subjective to condition.

I find it interesting how all of the southern units have left over tags. I'll try the 20B ML hunt

Votex does have a really good warranty. I'm eye ballin a Viper 4-12x44 for $400 NIB. I like the turrets on the Viper as well. May not be as tall as a Kenton, but a thin strip of masking tape, a pen, and some range time, for me, would be a less expensive solution. BUT VIPER FOR $350!?! You should go with option 3 and let some other poor smuck pick up the Vortex. ;-)

5 1/2 MOA Elevation 1.5 MOA for a 5 mph wind. 130gr TTSX 3100MV zero'd at 100. At 400 yards, I'd be able to take my time, relax, breathe,... get buck fever and miss.

A man asked an American Indian what was his wife's name. He replied, "She called Five Horses". The man said, "That's an unusual name for your wife. What does it mean?" The Old Indian answered, "It old Indian Name. It mean . . . . . . . NAG, NAG, NAG, NAG, NAG."

Last years NRA show was here in the Valley. I saw the bone collector crew and asked where O'Neill Williams was? I was a little embarrassed later and T-Bone gave me a sticker. But hey I don't spend a lot of time watching TV and he doesn't hunt AZ ... I think? Does he?

With a 25mph wind at 450yards (assuming that's consistent from muzzle to meat) that's about 6 MOA or about 2'4" for my rifle. Nah, I'd have to sneak in closer.

What does "Blue Printed" mean for a rifle?
HaYen replied to Coach's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I always thought of it was "truing" up the action. Making everything straight and flat. Below is a quote from a smith in NM that does a good job describing what he considers Blue Printing an action. -
I purchased a large ring small shank Turk M38 action from a guy on another board. Sent it to E.R. Shaw for a 26" #2.5 contour with a 1:8 twist and 11 degree target crown. They are also going to forge and polish the bolt handle; bead blast an blue the receiver and barrel; and test fire it. I just received an email that the barreled action was waiting for the bolt, after which it would be sent to be blued. I should have it back in 3 - 5 weeks. I'm going to see John at Timney for a trigger. The stock is what's killing me. I found some really nice, good priced, wood pieces that will require a lot of finishing at http://www.gunstocks.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=5001. I would love a McMillian, but the price is a little too high. The boards have original Mauser stocks or some "very used" sporter stocks. Houge has a full frame mold over that would work. For a scope, I'm trying to decide between a Bushnell 4-12x40 Trophy 600 DOA or Redfield Revolution also a 4-12x40.

Seeing a buck that big gives a guy hope in the upcoming season. Wait did you say 400 miles from Phoenix? Was that even taken in the State?
