youth or full sized stock on it?

I dragged my feet and put in for deer at about 8 am today, not a problem.

I got mine from sportsmans. its a collared button down (for formal fishing wear ha ha). I actually got it for kayaking moreso than fishing. Can button it up or adjust it (yes with pockets) for the situation.

or how they close the road, but still let logging trucks use it.

was in 8 a few years back. Seen two massive rv's set up right behind the road closed sign. Also in 8, we went down one road that connected two to together. On one end there wasn't any signage to indicate road closed, just the normal FR#. Got to the other end and seen that they had changed the road to a closed marker sign. Can you play ignorant? I agree, makes doing the right thing more frustrating when others still do what they want

So.... Anyone hear of this stuff? Was going through "close encounter elk" videos and one was a 4 yrd cow that walked in on the inventor of this clothing. So I looked it up. lots of neat videos and pictures (some people from az in fact). And big name sponsorships (Hecs sponsors shows on the outdoor channel) heres the link http://www.hecsllc.com/

I don't think its a marketing strategy as much as it is a geographical setback. Especially for 22n/s 22north isn't actually all that big (unit percentage wise). I think they find the geographical middle and cut the map. Same thing for 23. for "easy" reference, the road that drives through the middle of young is part of the boundary for the unit split. Theres way more real estate south of young

just have to scroll through the posts the old fashioned way. lol. Hope you get it figured out. Must be rough being retired? just teasing
-
I bought the 22n map. And then when we got drawn for 23 for deer and turkey I noticed the same thing. the unit split isn't the same as the map split
-
sportsmans sells it. but they also sell it "seasonally". They wont sell it over the summer due to the fire restrictions

Uuuuuuuughhhhhh. Stupid birds. so frustrating. lol Got my first spring tag for turkey, for the first hunt. Went up (I was sick) and suffered through the cold and rain. I kept bumping birds in one spot. There were four of us with tags. We came back mid morning to repair water issues from the rain. My nephew (7 y o) wanted to "help". So we took him out for an hour and let him play with the calls. He got frustrated when nothing walked out for us. Took him back to camp and was unloading firewood when my brother and one of the others showed up early... Rest of camp erupted. They got two birds off the 609 rd, about a half mile in. They weren't "hunting" per say, at least that's my rebuttal for when they asked where mine was. They were trying to go down 609 to find a spot to sit and seen them out the jeep window. I suppose,.... good for them. ha ha. Their first birds ever. the other two of us never got birds. Heard them gobble right behind camp when we were picking up at 6pm Monday after the only good day of weather that trip. ---- Fast forward to this past Friday (may 8). Going off of tips from couple others on here, I recruited a buddy from work and we left around 330 from san tan valley. Came up from the Roosevelt side on 288. We found one tom strutting in the middle of the road just past McFadden peak. Encouraging at least. Steve had hunted turkeys way back, and admitted that his dad was a turkey addict....in north Dakota though. He wasn't sure what to do with the terrain. Still a good companion to bring along, because the entire area was new to him. And he was amazed by actually having hills and mountains. Anyways, got to our spot. Geared up and called out. Got gobbled at! Success! It was way past the 6 am "quiet time" I was told about. Worked our way to a draw and set up. Working the calls, and getting good responses the tom was definitely coming right towards us. About 40 yards out, all he had to do was come into the clearing. He was very vocal..... as he turned.... and continued to respond to our calls..... as he walked away from us! After trying to coerce him back we went back to the truck to go explore a little more. Down the road, seen a lonesome hen, and we just stopped the truck (a ways away) but she was just out for a stroll apparently. We went on an adventure showing Steve more of the area around young trying to find more turkey spots and eventually came back to our original spot. Gobblers again! we split apart, he went high, and I went low, figuring if nothing else he could convice them to come my way. Every time I used the call it seemed like they were getting past me. So I would double back and down trying to work the original draw. then from the other side of the bush I hear a gobble. Dropped to a knee, and waited. got a glimpse of two turkey heads side by side (not a clean and clear shot). Grabbed my call to get them to turn and come back or at least spread a part. ... Crickets! they didn't make another sound, heck I didn't even see what direction they walked off to. nothing. even more frustrated I walked to the truck, and tried to call again. Another gobble and a hen answered. Uggh, again. went up the hill a distance from the truck and called again. no tom, but the hen answered. "well, maybe she will bring him with" is what I thought. A few minutes of this, and Steve pops out of the bush. He was the hen I was hearing. He apparently doubled back on his tracks at some point and was a little turned around. Left about one as the clouds were starting to build

courtesy of the azgfd fb page Aging a bighorn is a bit like aging a tree. Rams (males) reach mating age at 4, meaning at age 3 they are quite focused on getting bigger so they can compete for the ladies. That’s your best starting point because the 3-year ring is the biggest. Then, moving up the horn toward the skull, look for individual deep impressions (after three the ring size is smaller). Count each until you reach the base. This ram is about 7 years old. Hope the picture helps

what time were they quieting down? Was hoping for a day trip.... Figured 4 am would be early enough to get up there. Looks like it might be a "leave in the middle of the night trip" now. ha ha Crap!

pretty sure it works similar to the AZ G&F super game raffle. the lucky recipient of the super game raffle for that individual species can still draw for the same animal. IE: a super game raffle (or in this case, governor's tag)can have their draw tag and the "365 tag" from the super raffle.

im going back up to 23 on Friday morning. Hopefully the one I had my eye on was lucky enough to escape the second season hunt. Gonna take a "new to az" co worker out with me and have an adventure at the same time
-
I'd shoot it.... if that's the only one I could find. It's a "one and done" draw. So I would settle if pickings were slim

Good job. Spent the weekend in and around young, hoping to find something half that size. Ran outta time. gotta go back up on the 8th!
-
I disagree with this post! ha ha. We had rain sleet and snow on the first weekend, I gotta go back up to 23 on the 8th for a second chance. :-) Hopefully no one nabs my gobbler I tried for 3 days on. Wouldn't really cooperate until Monday when the weather finally turned decent and warmed up to about 70. So maybe some of the more seasoned hunters can answer this.... Only read about gobblers calling out in the morning and until mid day. We were packing camp up at around4. At 5, we heard a tom call out. We just shook our heads and figured it was taunting us. After 2 hours of packing everything up and cleaning mud from everything, we were enjoying the last of camp before turning the key to go home. Right at 6pm, the gobbler was calling out again. We grabbed a call to see if we should dig the guns out again, but he wouldn't respond.
