  1. kevin, hunt went well but did not connect. i saw a few bucks but they were either broken up or not big enough. yes it was a little difficult to get close. that rocky terrain makes it hard to sneak up on anything. it seemed the rut was over. all the bucks i saw were by themselves. 65 degree days didn't help either. jason
  2. just checking to see if anyone is heading to unit 27 nm for the archery hunt that starts jan 1 2006? i should be there by Monday. white dodge with white camper shell. stop in and say hello if you like. jason sanders

    Unit 27

coueslayer, i hunted unit 27 last year with a rifle and drew the archery hunt this year. i think it will be a fun hunt with a bow during the rut. i hope to be heading down there around the 30th. do you have an idea of where you will be camped? you can send me an email if you like at jds-ptc@swbell.net jason

Peak of the rut unit 27?

thanks! that's what i figured just wanting to make sure. would you think the peak would be sometime the last week of december?
  6. happen to draw unit 27 archery 1/1-1/15. won't have time to spend two weeks there so trying to schedule the best time. can anyone offer when the peak of the rut might be in this area? thanks, jason
  7. i was fortunate enough to draw this unit and was looking for info. anything that could point me in the right direction would be wonderful. i have just finished my elk hunt in unit 34 and now am ready to focus on this hunt. i have heard that there is a lot of private land but will want to focus on the public. mulie or coues makes no difference to me. i will be looking for a good represenative of either species. thanks, jason
