We sure had a good time at the Hunt Expo in SLC this weekend. HPO won a Top Ten Award in the Outdoor Film Festival in SLC for an AZ Archery hunt out of all the videos entered. If you haven't seen it you better take a look at it below is the link. We also got to do some horn hunting for a few hours on the Kaibab on the way home. Perfect weekend, found some sheds and picked up an award in front of Dick Chaney and watched a guy pay $1.4 million on a tag, WOW! This great sport is in good hands with people like that around.

If I remember right it was a Yukon Stone Sheep and Moose combo hunt. The guy was sitting next to Dick Chaney who donated the $1.4 million I am not sure who it was. After he bid on it he gave it back to the auctioneer and he resold it for $21K. Amazing night raising money for wildlife conservation! Thanks for all the kind comments on the video! As everyone knows Arizona has the best quality antelope hunting in the world. The problem is to get a tag! Once you have a tag in your hand, don’t let it go to waste. HPO went five for five last year with antelope clients all over 80”. Check out the video of this 85” goat going down from last year. This buck was harvested in Unit 10 by Bobby Beeman former host of the TV show “Best of the West”. Let me know what you think! Here are some pictures of the other bucks we harvested last year. We like units 10 and 5B. We have the most confidence in these two units to kill 82+” goats every year. We went 4 for 4 in unit 10 last year on bucks over 82” with the highest scoring buck going just over 85”. We also killed an 82+ goat in 5B as well last year you can see all of these buck on our website. Another buck on our website is Steve’s buck that came from unit 9 two years ago that scored officially 92 2/8”. The problem with unit 9 is that it can be hit or miss and goats are hard to find in the trees. It is hard to have someone burn 20+ points on a tag that you could struggle getting a good goat out of. You can get you multiple chances at 80+” goats. Just HPO’s two cents. The video link below is a buck that was killed last year in unit 10 by Bobby Beeman former host of the TV show Best of the West. Check out this buck that scored just over 85”. He passed two bucks that would have scored better but he liked the look of this buck. Let me know what you think of the video

We added 2 more huge assets to HPO. Welcome Ben Sandall and Chris Barreras to the team! Both of these guys are no greenhorns to the hunting world. They are hunting fanatics and have harvested some trophies of their own and have helped clients fill the tags of their dreams. By adding their knowledge and experience to the team HPO is now able to cover units where we had to turn down clients in the past. Their dedication and skill levels are 2nd to none. Mr Smith, A good friend and I went to see Mark two summers ago with the same results. It is amazing the system he has put together. This is a true hunting set up which is what I wanted. I didn’t want to have to turn turrets with animals moving around. It is amazing to hit a 1000 or even a 1300 yard target with a rifle that you have never shot before in your life. This is repeated every weekend with Mark. I wouldn’t have believed it until I went to the course myself. It is just incredible to come away with the same experience. The only problem the gun is, it is the only gun that all my kids want to shoot now! My 10 year old son killed a bull elk at 350 yards, one shot. He doesn’t like to shoot his .270 anymore because it “kicks too much”. I killed a deer at 530 yards, again one shot. It is very doable with the proper set up and proper coaching of how’s, why’s and why not’s. That is very cool that you got the system for free. Can’t beat that, but it was worth the price in my book. I have never regretted the purchase. You put a smile on my face reading your post today. I noticed you live in Flagstaff so do I. I sure would like to find a good location to shoot a 1000 yard shot. If you have found a good place let me know.

HPO sure had a great Antelope season in 2013. Our hunters went five for five all over 80" speed goats. The best one going over 85". Bobby Beeman - former host of TV show "Best of the West" harvested this good scoring goat in unit 10. Bobby showed how good he can shoot long range in open country. Well done! Fourteen year old Luke put this goat down at 500 yards in unit 10. Great shooting Luke! We have never seen a more proud dad on a hunt! Rick was the first one to pull the trigger on opening morning in unit 10. Before the sun had a chance to get up he had his 16" goat on the ground. Effective scouting and putting this buck to bed made fast work of it opening morning on a good goat. Neil took this tall 17" goat on opening day in unit 10. Ty took this perfect looking goat in unit 5B with HPO. After one look Ty knew this was the goat he came to Arizona to harvest and made fast work of it. View the full article

The velvet is coming off the bulls and they are getting ready for the rut. HPO goes into the field this week to start our rifle antelope hunts. We have plenty of great bucks and bulls located this year. We can hardly wait to get the hunts started. If you call us to book a hunt be patient this time of year as we are in the field non-stop. I thought you would be interested in looking at some elk sheds while we wait out the week for draw results to get posted. A bunch of people got tags this year, should be another fun fall!
