  1. tenderloins seldom make it home, I usually cook them for breakfast the next morning with OE eggs and hashbrowns. I do have a few chunks of backstrap stashed from deer, been skunked on elk tags lately.

    New to AZ

find out if they are the new HD's or the old model, should be able to get the old model for under $500. And Vortex will honor their lifetime warranty on 2nd hands I have been told.

Vortex Viper 15x50's will run you $650 to $700 depending on where you get them. They are great glass for the money. I prefer the Outdoorsman's bayonet stud mount over the the Vortex, but it costs over twice as much. Their 15x56 Kaibab's are great also, they'll give Swaro's and the like a run for their money at half the cost, $1300ish.

buy some good bino's and mount them on a tripod, most of us like 15x56's, climb on top of a mountain and use your glass

    Mountain Lion

I've cooked steaks and roasts, made breakfast sausage and burger out of lion, used it in a Chicken and Apple sausage recipe and it was a waste of time and meat, edible but not near as good as chicken or turkey.

    slick tricks
  8. have mixed emotions about this one, my daughters volunteered at Adobe Mtn Wildlife Rehab for their HS years and had a bunch of hawks, owls & eagles with lead poisoning, they vomit and puke green, so it isn't junk science made up to cram a law down our throats. Don't really like it, have my reloads all set for lead/jacketed rds and haven't tried any of the new non-lead offerings. So this is a case where I don't like it but they ain't lying, don't know that there is a happy medium. It's neat to have a Condor fly over your head at about 10 ft, wish I'd had a camera.
  9. have some Brunton 12's, I loan them out and wear 8's around my neck, I like coffee.......

    Bear defense

last year on the Pacheco fire we camped in Borriego Canyon, one night the Div Sup felt eyes on her, she opened hers and was face to face with a black bear, she screamed and the bear hauled butt. Next night she slept in the middle of the group not on the edge by the trail. One of the Pleasant Valley Shots had an encounter with a bear on the Horseshoe II, felt someone tugging on the end of his sleeping bag, thought it was a crew member so he swatted at him, the bear swatted him back and rolled him down the hill.

    Sportsmen's bill passes U.S. House

If I remember correctly about 10 years ago Grijalva tried to get some of the Coronado NF made into a wilderness area, this would have resulted in a proposed power line build being forced to go over land he owned versus public ground. Anyone out there remember the details on this?
