nice job, not surprised you didn't see the usual number of animals, wolves have been real hard on them
-
recruiting youth hunters and more time in the field TJ, they don't care about bad experiences turning off new hunters or lost animals, it's all about quantity

I won't take it personal, I don't own a quad....... You will run into idiots like that in every state, we've all cussed them at one time or another.

In Wyo we would run across sheep herder monuments, they had nothing better to do when the sheep were grazing so they'd pile up rocks. Some of them were pretty impressive in size and diameter. And in the 60's and 70's we would find claim markers, rocks piled up like that with an old Prince Albert can in it that protected the paper. I know that is not what these are, just thought I would share some info from different parts of the country. If they get lost on a main trail like you are talking about they probably shouldn't leave town.

I have an ING package, death benefit is guaranteed to increase 7% annually regardless of what the market value does (what you get if you cash out). Not sure if that is the type of package you are looking for, but it has been important to me with the stock market the way it is, the money is for my wife and daughters not me to cash out when I want a new truck. Got it from a guy I have taught Hunter Ed with for many years, if you are interested I will pm you his info on request.

look at a couple of reloading manuals, the WSM is equal to the WM out to about 300 yds, then the WSM starts dropping more the WSM runs on about 10 grs less powder than the WM

my thoughts are the number of lost animals is going to increase - by a lot - but we will never see those numbers and the set-ups will be low draw weight bows, extremely lightweight arrows and mechanical broadheads because they are easy to tune for bad decision, but it will probably result in "more hunter opportunities" which we know is all that is important nowadays, generate that extra revenue so the wolves can be paid for

Verizon is the best in the West. I have Sprint and it is very poor, and non-existent once you get away from civilization. Working wildland fires in Az, NM, Ca and Mt the guys with Verizon get service in very remote locations, may have to stand in the back of the truck on top of the tool box, but it still works. My Sprint phone gets turned off and put in the glove box and I borrow a Verizon. I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

The J13 call from javelinahunter.com works, for whatever that is worth to you

get on top of the tallest mtn around and glass with a tripod, if it's cold out glass the sunny slopes, if it's warm glass the shade, if you found tracks (they are almost square in size) and poop then there are pigs within a mile of you.

It's not that I was against this so much as I wanted to know how the money would be spent, all we had was "it will be used to improve hunter access". How? What exact plans are in place? Are you just going to go knocking on doors and say "here is some money, let us hunt your ranch" or are you going to say "we would like to allow the public on your ground, to get this access we will improve your fence in the north 40, pay for x number of tender loads of water to fill your tanks, bring out people to clean up all the trash, run Cats through this area to knock back some of the juniper encroaching on the grasslands." SFW in Az has been painted with the same brush as the Utah and Alaska groups. To my knowledge they haven't pulled the dirty tricks the other groups have. I listened to the intentions of this group when it was first organized and I liked them and supported the group. But with the crap pulled in the other states our group doesn't have a chance of succeeding in garnering the support of the majority of the sportsmen in Az. My suggestion to them, if you want our support then provide detailed plans, open meetings, open records and a few Joe Averages on the board. They might want to think about changing their name too, anything with SFW as the last characters gets about as much support as Obama at hunting camps.

Let your conscious be your guide. Would you HONESTLY feel competent at 60 yds? If you "think" you can make the shot you probably shouldn't release the arrow. I have friends that shoot better groups at 80 than I do at 40, and mine aren't too bad. I strive for 1" groups per 10 yds, so at 60 yds if I can put 6 arrows into 6" I will feel confident about the shot. If I'm not shooting up to snuff then I won't shoot past 50, or whatever range I'm getting my "inch" groups. Hunters for the most part don't have an audience watching them, so it is up to them to be honest with themselves. A simple test I would tell the kids in my Hunter Ed classes - "would you be proud to tell your Grandma about your actions?"

How deep are your pockets? I like +/- .003 straightness and +/- 2 grain weight difference and try for a finished arrow weight of 400 to 425 grains. This gives me good speed and enough weight to have good kenetic energy. Some advice given to me when I first started with compound bows was to avoid any arrow with the word "Hunter" in it's name, they were pretty much poor quality. The exception to this is Gold Tip XT Hunters. I have had good luck with them and been satisfied with their performance.

got this off another site from a member I respect. 6. "Qualified organization" means an organization that is qualified pursuant to section 501©(3) of the internal revenue code and that meets all of the following conditions: The only group that qualifies for this is the Sportsman for Wildlife and that is it! It was written by and for the Sportsman for Wildlife (Gilstrap and Jerry Weiers to be exact) so you see if this goes through it will tie the hands of all other organizations in this state. They do not tell you the entire story and what that story is is this—if this goes forward we will have a heck of a time with private land owners—the private land owners will fight this and they will have their land owner tags in our state—why? Because it opens the door for a fight from the land owners in this state and they are a lot stronger than all of us sportsman put together. H. The qualified organization shall first apply the proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags to cover all costs associated with the annual sportsmen exposition in this state and any county chapter banquets at which rights to tags are auctioned or raffled. The qualified organization shall apply the remaining proceeds from the resale by auction and raffle of the rights to tags in this state for programs to achieve any of the following purposes, including the qualified organization's costs of administration: This means that this group will have to pay for an Annual Sportsman Expo with the money they generate from the tags—do you know how much this would cost? It would pretty much eat up any and all monies that are generated right there. And why do we need a sportsman expo when we already have one each year? I tend to agree with him. Since the expo's have a cover fee I'm sure there will be money leftover but how much. And I hate to see State based organizations left out, AES, ADA, ADBSS.
