I made a single-shot 50 cal pistol in HS from a CVA kit, it was okay. Have shot revolvers at paper a few times, thing is to work up an accurate load - like any firearm. Since the hunt isn't too far away you better start practicing now.

And for pepper spray, pic up a can of Bear spray - goes farther and is meaner than most civilian sprays.

My Uncle was the Sheriff for many years, Tim McKinney, has a ranch SE of Lander on the way to Muddy Gap. Both side of my family are from that area, 5th generation ranchers on Mom's side and Shoshone on my Dad's, was related to half the county it seemed, had to get a wife from California so my kids weren't imbred's.....

I know several ladies that hunted into their 7th month.....depends on the lady.

By my figuring this should be the weekend after the Super Bowl.......may have a couple more "guides" show up if they know this.

Hey Bill, you were in my old stomping grounds at the One Shot - my Uncle guided for it for many years, stopped for a while then started guiding again a couple years ago. He also finally got to be a hunter, out shot the Governor either last year or the year before. He has quite a few stories to share about the first-time hunters he has taken out over the years.

you have to be originally from back east, always hang their animals upsidedown.......

This says it all about getting older & the whole aging thing...... An elderly couple are attending church services. About halfway through, she writes a note and hands it to her husband. It says, " I just let out a silent fart, what do you think I should do?" He scribbles back, "Put a new battery in your hearing aid."

Depends on how soon it gets put into the system.

fun times chasing pigs, glad you made meat. I have a javelina skull I take into my Hunter Ed classes when we cover shot placement, it has a 3 blade mechanical stuck in the snout, based on the calcification the pig lived with it a long time, they are tough little animals.

Quick opinions wanted on binoculars
azslim replied to talltines's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Thing with the Signature line is lifetime warranty. Haven't used bino's but have a couple Fullfield scopes and a Signature spotter, good glass. -
Hogue stock, Burris spotting scope Accumatch barrel
azslim replied to rugermack's topic in Classified Ads
May want to say whether the spotting scope is a Landmark or Signature, be a heckuva deal if it is a Signature. -
Somebody had a late great Christmas present, just hope it is an honest somebody and they hear about how they came to be lost.

You need to learn to take them apart in the field, they are a lot easier to carry.......great buck by the way.
-
good call on the face to face class versus online, depending on the instructors you will learn a whole bunch more in the face to face.

I knew they were hard on fawns and wounded animals, didn't think they could take a healthy one - unless the buck had issues already and that's why the coyotes got after him. I like the snake too, I've run across a couple of small Rosy Boa's here in Az, nothing that size tho.

Arizona’s Gun laws Among The Most Permissive In The U.S.
azslim replied to MangeyJoe's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
but the strict gun control laws obviously work, just look at the shooting statistics of NY, Chicago, DC where they have strict laws - hardly anyone ever gets shot there.........yea, right..... -
Amanda, I spoke with Travis Scott and he may come along also - same thing tho, we will know for sure when the date gets closer.

Vortex Skyline 20-60x80 Spotting Scope Sale - Only $299.99
azslim replied to gr8fuldoug's topic in Optics and tripods
If you don't have a spotting scope or want one with higher power this will be the best $300 you can spend. And if you don't like it you should have no problem selling it to get your money back. -
I read quite a bit about early Az when I first got here 25 years ago. I also enjoyed reading about the Graham/Tewksberry feud, I was spending a lot of time in that country and wanted to learn a little more. Not a good time to be a stranger just passing through.

Tell your son great job on an 85" buck.

Deer are good animals to learn to butcher on. Bone out the front qtrs and grind them up for sausage. Take the backstraps and TL's for steak. Muscle out the hind qtrs for steaks or roasts, cut the steaks at a 90 degree angle to the grain. The tips of the muscles that are too small for steaks are great for stew/chili meat or ground up for clean burger. You can have a coues deer in a cooler in about 1 hour all wrapped and ready for the freezer except for the grind, and a hand crank grinder works fine because there ain't that much to grind but a $100 counter top is better.

Cabeza de Vaca - cow head......? I found the remnants of an elk antler by a cliff dwelling in the Sierra Ancha's, very little of it left but based on where it came from an elk did not hide out there and drop it.
