    Viper 15x50's?

I carry 15x50 Viper's as backups and loaners, they work fine if you know how to use glass, you spend a lot more time on the focus wheel than you do with Swaro's, I take out quite a few folks that want to learn to hunt and haven't set themselves up with gear yet, these are perfect for that, if they break them so what, the warranty will cover them

Best time to hunt the burns?

moisture dictates when they will show up, and like Creed said it may not be the first season after the fire, unless it was an early fire you need to be careful hunting burns, many of the trees have their roots burned out and will come down with a slight breeze, and they don't make any noise when they fall unless they hit something on the way down, firefighters hate working in an old burn because the hazzards increase with both footing and falling snags

Cherry Creek Road FR 203 Permanent Closure

here is a thought for you to ponder, the TMP was signed by Clinton in his last days, we are slowly being shut out of our Natl Forests throughout the west, this further reduces the number of people that hunt, in 30 to 50 years hunting may be gone which eliminates one big argument about gun control, we use them for hunting, end result "goodbye guns". I'll be dead by then, so doesn't impact me, but my grandson won't have the opportunities that I had. The Dem party is patient and to them the end justifies the means.

Thank you fire fighters, be safe

from what I have heard from folks with knowledge all were safe and no major injuries, the shelters worked as they were supposed to, if a fire runs over the top of you quickly they will withstand the heat, if it is hot and raging the shelters start to delaminate, plus there is no air left for you to breathe

+1 on genetics, I took a herd bull in Wy that had a messed up L side, all his offspring had the same type of rack

    anyone use ovis game bags?

you can spend a bunch of money on game bags or just use pillow cases, they keep the meat clean, bugs off and breathe to help cool down, and you can get them cheap at yard sales

    5b late unicorn bull

saw 2 bulls in 5BN about 10 years ago with same configuration, they posed for me broadside at 20 yds while I sat there with a cow tag in my pocket, I sure wanted to take one of them home with me

    Possible Elk Pictographs

something to think about concerning Merriam's - their antlers were palmated and that is why they were designated a sub-species, I have seen several pics in the last 20 years of elk killed in Az with some palmation on their antlers, and all of the elk now in the state are from the Rocky Mtn elk captured in Jellystone and transplanted so they shouldn't have any Merriam's genes. Just my country-boy logic, along with a little beer and whiskey around a campfire, good chance it is some mineral in Az that results in the palmation characteristic, wasn't a sub-species after all just good groceries that caused it. I grew up in Wy and the bulls there don't get near the racks that the bulls here get, I attribute it to having to fight the hard winters and the elk here get better graze sooner and later than the hard winter elk.

    Browning Bar Safari 270 SOLD

Good deal! When my daughters started hunting I picked one up with a BOSS, took the recoil out for small frame shooters and when they got older and shot their hand-me-down rifles better (belonged to grandparents) I got to keep the gun.

    Chorizo!

here you go, use 2/3 game to 1/3 pork, I use a fatty pork butt, handcrank grinder will work if you don't have an electric one Chorizo - this is what I turn my javelina into, have used deer & elk too. I have also made this using a 50/50 mix of game and 70/30 hamburger, gives it a different flavor. Different vinegars add different flavors also. I have used white & red rice wine & red raspberry vinegars and been pleased with the results. 1 1/2 lbs pork butt 1/2 lb pork fat 1 bunch (4 to 6 oz) fresh cilantro, chopped, about 1 cup – I have used 2 - 3 tblspn dried also 1 fresh serrano or jalapeno or other hot pepper, seeded and finely chopped 1/4 cup red wine vinegar - I have used red wine, rice wine & red raspberry vinegars, each adds it’s own distinctive flavor. 1 tblspn New Mexico or other dried chile powder 1 tblspn sweet Hungarian paprika 2 tspns kosher salt 1 1/2 tspn whole cumin seeds 1 tspn ground cumin 1/2 tspn coarsely ground black pepper 1/2 tspn ground cayenne pepper 1/4 tspn ground coriander grind meat/fat together, mix in spices/water and knead together, then grind again. Cook small patty and decide if needs anything. If you want to add more bite leave the seeds in the peppers. I keep a bag of all these spices mixed, minus fresh peppers & cilantro, that I use for all my Mexican food. Throw in a couple spoonfuls with a lb of burger and you have taco meat, thin slice a roast or chicken breasts and you have fajita's. I use dried jalapeno's & dried cilantro in my spice baggie.
