Here is my advice for spot and stalk archery coues hunting: 1. Don't let the wind get wrong or they will smell you from a quarter mile. 2. Don't make a sound or they will hear you from a quarter mile. 3. Don't move out in the open or they will see you from a quarter mile. (Even if you do all these things perfectly they might still detect you with their sixth sense) 4. If you do happen to get within range don't miss! No, seriously some of the most fun I have had hunting is trying to kill a coues spot and stock with my bow. Have tons of patience. A successful stock might take three hours or more. Oh, and invest in some stalking feet. I have done a couple stocks where the last couple hundred yards were in my socks before I invested in stocking feet. I don't advise wearing your socks around in the desert.

Glad to hear you are doing OK Amanda. Hang in there. You will be back out tromping around the hills before you know it.

Absolutely gorgeous photos Doug!

It would fun to have a "find the deer" game with a photo like that.

Or a fawn maybe?

Looks like a jackrabbit in mid-stride! That's cool!

That is a studly buck!

Some nice pics there. Thanks for sharing.

That bull is pretty solid all the way around. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes close to 370 when all is said and done.

Gotta Read This...
Brian Payne replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Senator Allen is a good example of a clear thinking politician that actually wants what is best for Arizona and America. How could any true American disagree with upholding the laws of our nation? The media and progressive movement has blinded so many people. I lived in Guatemala for two years of my life where I got to see first hand the struggles that the people in Latin America face; poverty, health care, education, and political corruption (starting to sound like America). I met some of the sweetest hardest working people while I was there. I don't blame them for wanting something better. There may not be a lot of good solutions to their problems but illegally immigrating to our country is not the answer. To be a true contributing citizen of a country one has to be committed to upholding its laws including paying taxes. Illegal immigrants have already broken our laws the second they jump the fence. I don't like stereotyping and am not racist but anyone that doesn't admit there is a pattern in the nightly news and every police report is blind. Just this week my wife asked to stop putting in for hunts along the border until things calm down. She hasn't liked me hunting along the border in the past but has consented with my commitment to be extra careful and take care of my business. Now she is putting her foot down. I can't tell you how hard it was to agree to her wishes, but she is right, as a husband and a father of four it is simply too dangerous for me to risk. I love hunting down there. I hate so much that I am not free to do what I love in my own country. SB 1070 is a good start and hooray for Gov. Brewer, but so much more needs to be done. -
Just this week my wife asked me to not put in for any southern units until things calm down if they ever do. She hasn't liked me hunting along the border in the past but has accepted my decision with my commitment to be careful and take care of my business. Now she is putting her foot down. I can't tell you how how hard it was for me to accept her wishes, but she is right, as a husband and a father of four, it is simply too dangerous for me to risk. I love hunting down there. I hate that I am not free to do what I want in my own country because the bordering country to the south makes it unsafe. So to me, politics and hunting definitely overlap right now. Sorry to be disagreeable.

Felt like I was there! Then I woke up and realized I am stuck down here in Southern AZ and not up in the high country shed huntin. Thanks for sharing.
-
Took me a little while but I found it. Guess my shed spotting skills are a little rusty do to lack of practice.
-
Good haul Josh. Nice Set! What did your buddy find?
-
Looks like you found some good ones Hamblin. I would say you have several sheds off the same coues buck or at least same genetics. That set of fresh elk sheds is sweet too. Man I miss living up in that country. My wife just had a baby or I would be up there looking.
