Which forests, or which units will be affected? -
Tons of it along Tonto Creek in the shade under the rim.

It is SPOTLESS, which is all you need to look for!

That is a hefty looking night bear on 4-22. Would love to see him in the day to check out its color.

Garmin Rino 530CHX. Is the first and only GPS I have ever used. Bought it because I once hunted with a guy and his son who both had one and I loved the communication feature that shows where other users are on the map interface. Is the 60CSX a better version of the Rino 530?

Having lots of bears around is not a problem, it is a solution to one's addiction!!

Mountain cat!!! Thought you had tagged yourself a lion! Nice eating anyways!

The best standard of general size is to measure the width of the front pad. Five-six inches across is a good bear. Eight or more is a GREAT bear!!

Very sweet! Imagine the coats-of-many colors that their offspring will have! I called for bear all day today, but no dice. Its tough for bears to be interested in chasing wounded animals when they are chasing each other!

A short guy that can't reach the trail cam without shimmying up the tree!

He is BA BP!

I would have gone NUTS without that bear article from Adam to keep me occupied! Great job!

I have never ever thought about turkey hunting, but your story makes me think I should grab an OTC archery tag, just in case! Nice job! -
Very cool story. Almost makes me want to shoot a bird! Is that common to go 3 for 3 in turkey, or is that a tough thing to accomplish?

I caught a lion in a cage trap in the Bulldog Canyon area 3 years ago. There are a number of lions that call that area home. I would love to see a picture of that. What was it, a 50-60 pound youngster?

Buddy of mine called me today. He was camping on the rim off the 300 road with his grandkids. He had a 1-year old on his lap and saw what he thought was a coyote. He plucked a blade of grass and squeeled on it and this beast RAN towards him and at about 20 yards he realized that it was the largest coyote he had ever seen in his life. He stood up and it did not flee, but it continued to circle around them in the forest. He yelled for his son in law to come out of their trailer with his AR-15, but he was unable to get a shot off. They went out and saw its prints, which were too huge to be a coyote. As the sun began going down they heard this wolf howling going on right behind their camp. So his question, which I am passing on to you is this: Have our wolves spread up to the rim country already? They were going to shoot this beast without a second thought as they figured the wolves were only in unit 1 or unit 27. If they are there, I will be a little more worried sleeping on a cot outside while bear hunting.

Bear scat in a saddle, sounds like a wonderful place! Can't wait for the pictures! Heal up soon!

Nice light brown color. Very nice. Hair looks nice too. What month did you shoot it? You obviously skinned it for a rug. Have you gotten it back from the taxidermist yet?

You have a little bear family hitting your water source!
-
Hyper, I don't recall any posts with that bear you tagged. Put up a picture or two and share the shot story! Thanks.

That would be great to have a job that had you putting your boots on the ground in some sweet and remote hunting spots! My thanks to the BP and the service they provide to our state and country.

Well, shot my bow after a week off and everything was sighted in perfectly from last week. I am good up to 80 yards! Will wait one more week and re-check, and then I will finally apply transparent tape over my sight yardage marks to waterproof and protect them from the elements. Spring archery bear in two weeks!

Just wanted to comment on an interesting experience I have been having while sighting in my bow over the past six weeks to see if anyone else has gone through this. I have excellent agreement between my field points and fixed broadheads from 20-80 yards and have been strictly shooting broadheads now by choice to better prepare myself for field conditions. Anyways, I have never shot more arrows with my bow in my life than I recently have over these past six weeks and I think this has actually been making my form improve and my releases smoother. I think this is the case because I have found myself slightly adjusting the yardage markers on my adjustable slider sight from where I had set them, lets say two or three weeks ago. For example, The last two or three trips out to the range found me spending my shooting time at 70 and 80 yards and dialing in those yardages to extremely tight shooting arrow groups. Yesterday, I went back to 60 yards for the first time in three weeks and was shooting about three inches lower from where I had previously set my 60 yard tape mark. I know that the 60 yard tape mark had not been moved or from its original location, so I feel that this "apparent movement" occurred as a result from my improving form and technique over time. Has anyone else experienced this? I found myself fine tuning my yardage mark at 50 yards as well, but they were not affected at yardages less than 50. Anyways, I hope that is why a few yardage marks had slightly changed. My bow is new and it does have aftermarket strings on it and I have probably put about 600 shots through it. So I hope it is not some string or cable stretch that happened?

Happy Valley is wherever you get lucky enough to tag a bear!
