Never used an e-caller, but I have used a baby cub hand call before, but to no avail. I would think it would call in a female looking for her cub....or a predatory male looking to cannibalize a cub and possibly send a female back into her ovulation cycle.

Optimum archery range is based on your ability. I have arrowed four archery spring bears from 3 to 30 yards. Try hand predator calling and bring the bear into you. Good luck.

Not trying to dissuade you, but we are one of the few states with javelina in it. I would take your buddies javelina hunting. Much cooler weather then and much greater odds of seeing them and actually wrapping a tag around one.

I am on spring break this next week. Going to go out Wednesday to scout and explore some areas off the Control Road on Wednesday if anyone wants to join me for a 1/2 to 3/4 day trip. No calling, as it is not yet season. 😀

Was driving my Jeep back on the dirt portion of Peralta Trail after taking my girls on an overnight backpacking trip and there was a BMW and a Jetta stopped on the road facing each other. I pulled out a few feet to see why they were halting traffic. They stopped to allow this 5 foot diamondback crossing rights. I quickly maneuvered around the BMW and squashed the snake with my front tires and hit my brakes when my rear tires rolled on it. Rattlers don't have the right away on our roads.
