KODIAK Brown Bear VIDEO
kidso replied to chase_christopher's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I found this video on Youtube a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea that it featured a CWT member. My dream is to predator call an Alaskan brownie in order to wrap a harvest tag on it.- 11 replies

Never heard of bear pastrami?

He is larger than average. If size is not important, then consider whether you like its coat color.

Could be a fellow hunter who wants to share the area with you, but did not have a pen and paper to write a message. So he did something obvious to get your attention in a non-vandalous way to let you know that he likes to hunt that area too. Check your trailcam for a friendly wave.

Reminds me of a few steroid pumping athletes I went to high school with, who basically had no necks, but an extra thigh attaching their heads to their torsos. Good bear, not enough body to give an accurate weight.

Bat with something it is grappling with...

I have three months of sick leave built up from 18 years of service. But, all teachers know that for every say you are gone, it takes two or three days of "damage control" to get your students caught up in their academics and back in synch with your classroom procedures and personal expectations.

Thanks! It will be one long, hot summer since I have no archery bear tag in pocket.

I have incidentally called in 13 lion while bear hunting over a 20-year period, but only pulled the trigger twice and wrapped my tag around two of them. Other hunters shot at two more, but tagged neither. The other nine never presented a reliable shot and exited stage left before the deal could be closed. Most of these cats came in around 20-30 minutes, with the quickest arriving at about 10 minutes and the longest closer to 50 minutes. Good luck! Oh, and bobcats, I am 1 for 3, have hardly called in any of them.

Sweet deal! Any hunter who is married, has a pair of Swarovskis, and their own beetle colony, has drawn an awesome wife!

Anyone hunt Bears in Alaska?
kidso replied to Big Browns's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
A non-resident black bear tag is $250 and some areas have a three bear limit. -
Price is comparable to Canada. Sweet color phase brute!

Wall. A six foot bear is a foot larger than the average bear. Great job, wall it!

Dad gets a trip to Canada to hunt bears. Mom gets a new sofa set. Good trade!

Live Alberta Canada trip report

....I would cry through the night, wipe away my last tears, doubts, and regrets. Then, be out on a nice ridgeline at first light prepared and willing to do it all over again if necessary! -

Adam just put two slugs into the beast, as it re-emerged from the thicket. It hobbled off back into the brush. It is too dark and unsafe to pursue in the tangled vegetation, so he will be there at first light to recover it. He will NOT get a wink of sleep tonight! -

Call in a wolf after you get a nice blondie tagged. -

Adam already tagged one! A nice blackie with a brown muzzle. He will surely fill in the details when he gets service! Edit: Adam was hunting spot and stalk and sealed the deal with a 30-yard shot.- 65 replies

Well, let's see the bear! High desert has much less food sources for bears than areas of higher elevation. That elevational zone will finish its vegetative reproduction soon and that bear will be gone for greener pastures.

Great job on tagging a lion! Forget the A-frame. Just throw that beast over your shoulder and carry it! That way when you stop for ice at Circle K, all the patrons will look twice at the large blood stain running down your back and wonder what you have been up to! Are you going to have the lion rugged or body mounted?

While hunting bears in a remote canyon coming out of Fort Apache, I came across some unnaturally large footprints in the freshly fallen snow. If they were not made by a bigfoot, then the dude who made them should certainly apply with the Guiness Book of World Records for admittance! I followed them for nearly a mile up the canyon before the brush became too thick and reduced my visibility under my comfort zone. Never saw or heard anything, other than the tracks in the snow. It was more curious during the entire experience, rather than scared or worried.
