    Checked cams today

Agreed. Nice cat. Should be taken out before it gets too many elk!

Very interesting, that bears hit the mesquite beans. I've always hunted them in the manzanita and acorn thickets. Only once did I go after bears in the prickly pears, but even that was near the 5000 foot elevation. I've seen javelina and deer in the mesquite beans, so I guess there is one more species to add to it! I've personally witnessed bears devouring unripe green manzanita berries and unripe green acorns. Have any of you observed them visually or found scat evidence of bears eating unripe green prickly pear fruit?

    Trail Cam #1

Sweet looking bear pics! Now, is it just me, or is the top bear photo from the rear angle a large sow, as the bear looks very broadly built and appears to have some weight to it with small ear tufts, while the broadside bear photo might be her much smaller cub? I think they are two different bear of greatly differing sizes. Or are they the same bear and the camera angle is doing a number on me? Any opinions? How much time elapsed between the two bear photos that you posted?

Cameras seem to be kind of low for bear, expecially without ripe prickly pear yet. Any scat nearby? Was the bear grazing on the grass? That's along way to go for just water and grass. Any idea on the food draw to pull the bear that low?

    I like my spot!

I love the blonde bear. That will be a super sweet bear in another 2 or 3 years! Keep that camera going and see if the bear continues to use that same area on an annual basis after winer hibernation. It could be interesting data to collect, as that bear can NOT easily be mistaken for another bear.

    Central Arizona Bear

The head shot was snapped off and the six inches of arrow that went in behind the eye angled down into the neck and cut away. That shot did the deed. Here is the link to my full story on another forum if you care to read it. http://www.thearizonahunter.com/forum/view...f=16&t=4814
