  1. I had a Remington Custom Shop KS Mountain Rifle with the fore end bumps that was a 1/2 MOA shooter. The downside was if you shot with a tight shooting sling it could shift POI due to sling tension.

    Weekend madness

Some great shooting guys (and gal). This must be the weekend for small groups! Shot this 1/4" 100 yard group with my lightweight 6.5-06 Friday afternoon.

    Bump for some great binoculars...
  4. Once the brass has been work hardened thru repeated firings, you can expect some spring back after shoulder bumping with your original die setting.

    Spotter to carry???

12x50 ELs and a Swaro 65mm. May leave the spotter behind on long backpack hunts though...

AYA 12 Ga, sidelock double SOLD

Thanks, I felt very stylish shooting over my Setters with it... other than it wasn't a 20 or 28 gauge.

  11. Colt AR15 Match Target Pre Ban customized for Service Rifle shooting. 2 stage Millazo MKII trigger ($280) and 1/2 MOA rear sight installed by Albert Turner. Float Tube and windage adj. front sight base mods by Phil Arrington. 1-7" factory chrome lined barrel shot 1 MOA or less with irons when I did my part... and has a lot of life left in it. Also includes a spare Colt 16" HBAR flat top upper (1-9") and BCG with maybe 100 rounds thru it. $1800 FTF sale only Mike
  12. I sleep in my merino wool base layer and find it takes much longer to get stinky than other materials.
  13. Bump for April 17th shoot.

    Bergers FAILED me horribly

I have only shot one animal with an all copper bullet... a good sized bull elk with a little 6.5 127gr LRX and it literally collapsed in its tracks with a quartering on chest shot. Only a sample of one, but I think the monometals do have merit on larger animals when your shots can be from near to far. That same bullet shoots tiny groups in my 6.5-06, so what's not to like. Don't find a hunting bullet cost to be that big a concern in the overall picture. Killed a lot of game with Hornadys as well... wore out the .270 tube on my now 6.5-06 with them.
  15. Good to hear. Hope you can make it to the April shoot. Mike

  17. As others have said, no oils needed on a firing pin and spring assembly for cold weather. I put a little graphite powder on the spring, but a dry lube might work even better. I do always keep the bolt lug faces lightly greased though.

    Elk hammer

I was really impressed with the way a Barnes 6.5 127LRX hammered this bull. I'd expect the bigger calibers would work just as well within the appropriate impact velocity range....
  19. Bumped for March date...
  20. If you are just trying to increase neck tension for magazine feeding in a semi auto, and don't want to pay extra for a bushing die, you can chuck the expander button in a drill and reduce it's diameter a little at a time with a fine grit sandpaper to increase tension. The shoulder bump comment is a good one. For bolts I'd go .0015-.002in for hunting, AR's .002-.003 and maybe .003 -.004 for M1's and M1a's with the slamfire concerns.
