Just went through the break in process with a new 6.5-06 match barrel my shooting buddy installed on my hunting rifle. With a match barrel all the "break in" does is smooth any minor tool marks in the throat left by the reamer. We did 3 one shot and cleans followed by a 5 shot and clean. Now, the barrel simply doesn't copper foul... I have not discerned any improvement from breaking in a factory barrel.

We sometimes require an offhand shot or two, but the stages are divided into no grass, or 18" grass. Any position or support is OK as long as the muzzle is 18" above the ground for the grass stages.

Attention Hunters and Shooters, Phoenix Rod and Gun Club is having a Hunting Rifle Shoot on Sunday April 26, 8:00AM, arrive early for set up. Cost is $15 for non club members, $10 for members. We will be shooting animal targets ranging from coyotes or javelina to deer, bear and antelope from 100 to 400+ yards from field positions, some with time or other constraints. There will be several different stages with fewer than 35 rounds fired. You can use different rifles (hunting type) for different stages if you wish. This isn't intended as a shooting match but rather an opportunity to practice with your hunting gear and techniques in field conditions. Bring anything you would use on a hunt and nothing you wouldn’t. It will be at the PRGC High Power Range. PRGC is at the southern end of 7th AVENUE (not street) up against the mountain. HP is accessed at the gate to the left at the back of the public range parking lot. For additional info see: http://arizona-rifle... ... -PRGC.html Hope to see you there. Feel free to post or PM with questions Mike Samer Hunting Rifle Shoot Director

Hunting Rifle Shoot at PRGC Jan 31st
Mike S replied to Mike S's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Yes, we'll see how it goes, but I plan to be there around 7AM to start setting up. We will have a steel deer and boar target this time that will help us keep shooting if it rains. -

Those are the old style. The B/GA T*s have fold down eyecups, larger diameter lenses in the eyepieces, and are marked B/GA on the bridge. At least mine did...

Cool. Looks like sidewinder trail at PSP north?

I haven't had him do any work in a long time, so I'd call him. He has been at the same location for 30 years or so and definitely knows his business.

Nelson Ford would be my pick for an S&W smith. Google The Gunsmith Inc.

Brunos has standard and match in stock...

I'm happy with my single front Carhartts for cooler weather desert hunting. I've shot a bunch of handgun javelina wearing them so they must be quiet enough.

Opening Day of Arizona’s Cowtown Long Range Shooting Club - 4-Oct
Mike S replied to Bill Poole's topic in Long Range Shooting
Yeah, the east range was pretty warm at 11:00 or so when I started shooting but I 'm sure those holes and rebar were for the shade structure you mention. -

Had a chance to check this out this morning and was impressed. If I wanted to regularly shoot at long range steel without a long range drive, this would be ideal. -
For what it's worth W760 and H414 are the same powder.
