We are planing a few scouting trips before the hunt. I want to see what we would be up against and to be ready for the big day.

Drawn for the Oct 22nd hunt. Will be comming out of southeast valley, Coolidge. I am in decent shape as I can hike and such. The plan a cousin has is to drive around until he finds something. I do not think this is the way to go and don't mind doing some hiking. I have a Marlin xl7 30-.06 that I plan on using.

First timer out in the field. My brother in-law and myself are complete newbs to the hunt and area. From what I have read here, glassing is the key to any area. Hiking a mile or two is a plus also. Has anyone hunted these units that would have advice for first timers? I think we are in this as a learning hunt, and not looking for the monsters....yet. Are there any locals here from these units?

As a new member to this forum, I must say to each member who posts or reads this section, Thank you. I am a religous man, and as a father of two young boys I have seen great things come from prayer. I am proud to associate with such great people and I am truly impressed by acts of unselfishness found here. Again, Thank you for being great examples to mankind.

My name is James McCarthy and I work with the Gila River Indian Community as a Civil Engineering Technician. I have been in the engineering field for the last 10 years in land development as a civil designer. The housing market tanked and I found myself working with Gila River. I am new to the forum as well, and joined after reading the posts for the last frew months. Finaly was drawn for the fall hunt, and need some good info from great people who support this forum. If you need a hand while being stuck in the Coolidge area, look for the fat guy with the thirstbuster, that me.

The plan is to strap the bino to the board with a velcro strap. oz31p, how did you go about a pan head for this tripod? The head on it is chintzy at best, but hopefuly will make the trip. Is it worth it to have a larger heavy duty tripod for the purpose of glassing?
