  1. a customer's dog had gotten on the couch and chewed this mount up. We can usually repair or remount almost any damage.

When the dog chews on your mount, have it fixed(the mount)

Nathan, a toe on a mountain lion would be about 100.00.

Tracy, this one was a remount, but we have replaced a lot of ears before. one time we even replaced the upper eye lid and eye lashes on a buffalo. I wanted to show people that if the worst happens don't despair, there are always options.

jim, it all depends on how old and who tanned it originally. bring it in and I can look at it.

I guess he had it at the end of a couch. the dog climbed up on the couch and stood there and chewed until he had his fill.

    One very large mount

It is actually 3 different bases that all roll together to produce one large piece. All three pieces can be rolled very easily, and can also be displayed as individual pieces if the owner want to change it up. three people can lift each piece up to load.

    taxidermist for archery strip

the best solution is to cape the skin off the head, and let it cool to the touch then get the skin into a plastic bag and pack with ice. keeping as dry and as cold as possible. as for the antlers if you don't want to officially measure them, you can split the skull plate so you can wrap the antlers in plastic and pack in ice. once again keep as dry and cold as possible. This will give you 24-48 hours if you can't cape it off the skull, you need to get the whole head and antlers into some kind of cooler, you can always leave the lid open and pack with ice(keeping the water off the cape and velvet) then cover whole cooler with sleeping bag or other insulating material. this will give you about 24 hours. when you return to town get all into the freezer as soon as you can or to the taxidermist. another option is artificial velvet. then you don't have to worry about anything but the cape. one more thing, I have had guys say they thru away the capes from early season deer because all the hair was falling out and it looked mangy. That is what early season capes look like, all the long red summer hair is falling out and the winter coat is growing in. so if the capes look bad don't throw them out they are good. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions, please call or ask. Jim
  11. over the years I have had quite a few people ask me what is the proper way to care for the raw trophies in the field. It is always easy to tell someone but I think unless you see it done you may not understand exactly what is being said. So we have decided to do a field care/caping seminar. If you want to see and hear my preferred method of getting your trophy out of the woods and to the taxidermist, come join us. Saturday August 9th. open 9am, seminar starts at 10am and will last till noon. Southwest Wildlife 16443 N. 91st street Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480) 661-0372 drinks and snacks provided Door prizes will be given away

We love to do custom work. A client came to us with two Jackals that she wanted fighting. so we found some reference photos and started creating. This is what we ended up with. What do you think?

    Big Peninsula Bear

It came from the Alaska Peninsula. I don't know what unit. He was about a 9-9 1/2 foot bear. When the hunter noticed the light claws he made up his mind to take this bear. He has others that are larger but loved the light claws.

    trailer search help

Hey Dale, I have a 5th wheel toybox (40 foot) that we put a gooseneck converter on. I love a gooseneck, no slapping, and much more stable and tight, and I have the whole bed available and I dont need to muscle the 5th wheel hitch in and out, however there is added torque on the "neck" of the trailer and over the years have actually bent the "neck" or over bed portion of the trailer slightly, due to the added torque. One other drawback on the gooseneck is if you want to pull another small trailer it is illegal to do so with a gooseneck, but legal with a 5th wheel, that was no concern to me because 40 ft trailer and my truck was close to overall max legal length
