    36B Hunt starting Nov 30th

The smugglers want nothing to do with you or your camp (while you're there). They know you're armed. They have a product to deliver and the last thing they want is a shoot out. The immigrants might rummage your camp depending on how desperate they are. Happened to me 3 years ago. 2 guys went through our rations and took 2 Pepsi's and our candy bars. We drove up on them and they waved at us and walked right to the BP station 300 yds down the road. Quite a sight. But I still maintain vigilance and use discretion. You wont see me wearing blaze orange down there and I crap with my pistol in hand. Lock your stuff up, camp in a group for comfort and leave enough beer cans on the ground so a mouse cant go undetected.

I have said it before on this forum - just because you were luucky doesn't mean its safe I never said it was safe. I've had my fair share of encounters. To me, that's the chance you take in the border units. Is it worth it for some people? Probably not. To each his own I guess.

Just spent all last week in that area. Filled 2 of 3 tags and saw a record low of illegal activity compared to what our group has witnessed in the past.

We camped 1/4 mile from the Border Patrol checkpoint on Ruby. Camp was pilfered in 30 minutes of arrival. Took all our chocolate and a couple cokes. No big deal in my opinion considering the amount of 'em traveling through that area. Talked to some other hunters/campers 200 yds away and said they have never had a problem. Just a chance you take I guess. Sidearm is a must! Random gunfire at 2 am doesn't hurt either. Heading back down in November.
