you shot a real nice buck casey, I have to wait till I get it back from the taxi in a few weeks, I was thinking about 85 or so max, I wish he had more mass that will be the thing that hurts his score. not that he was a monster. every year my goal is to shoot a buck bigger than last years buck It could be real interesting if I keep going this way.

We left the house at 5:30 am thanksgiving day in the pouring rain, when we found our campsite the rain stopped and the weather turned out awesome for the rest of the week except for the fog sat morning. for a few days we saw a lot of does and a few small bucks. then on tuesday morning my good friend clint spotted 2 nice bucks bedded down on a hillside about 600 yards away in the sun, so we gathered our gear and headed toward a small knoll that we thought we could shoot from, It turns out that it was still about 550 yards away from the bucks, I wanted to get as close as we could to take the shot, so we keep going down the ridge and we closed the gap to 420 yards and this was as close as we could get, I set up to shoot and one shot from my .270 wsm and it was all over. Its was a great hunt and this deer was hard earned.

casey if you had to guess what do you think he will score?

carl the wsm fits my needs a little better than those cannons I used to shot, I enjoy shooting that gun a lot more and can shoot it better. when are you moving back down? I still don't know what that buck scores yet I haven't put a tape on him.

most of us have been there, keep trying never give up have patience. It took me years to kill my first deer now I have filled 3 tags in a row they keep getting bigger. hang in there read all the stuff you can and spend as much time in the field as you can.

I didn't see any signs that I would call rut, I did see a good buck hanging out with a doe but I also saw bucks together. good luck

I don't think so.........One of the 10 comandments of gun safety is always be sure of your target and what is beyond. great buck though. yea, it was a hundred inch buck in front of a bush on the last day......shoot "I think thats the buck shoot" opps there was a doe bedded there!!!!!!!!!!! some people will do anything for a deer even something stupid like shoot into a bush. your kidding yourself....

ya it was a tough shot, no matter what I did I couldn't get as steady as I needed or wanted dammed bipods, they work great when you can use them but become an pain, the bullet went into the neck dropped him instantly thanks Matt nice meating you as well.

thanks and yes when they are hard to get you tend to like them more. it was a long few days and we had tags that didn't get filled but hey thats huntin.

I don't know how this happened I wrote a story and it double posted with the pics on the the other thread.

those critters are there. just look a little harder and you will find some. try kicking over a few rocks and you will be surprised at how many scopions you will find. I usaully don't run into many rattlers.
