Actually, I spent a decent amount of time in there scoutin. If you recall, I posted some pictures of bucks I found. While you were piecing your gun together, I was in the hills findin deer And I found a few 85-92" bucks today, but they were in a place that was impossible to find them. We tried to get on em but could never find em in there beds or gettin out. Kade, I never asked anyone about any spots in SW son Now your girlfriend on the other hand... ask some friends if you can let her shoot a the caliber if they have one? to see how she handles them. I shoot a 270 wsm I dont think the recoil is that bad, any of the calibers you mention she could use. The 7mm might be a little much for her, the .243 would get the job done as well as a lot others. there is no right or wrong awnser to you question.

don't waste your cash on the doubler. a spotting scope sucks to carry around. like coosefan said if you can see antlers then it is a good buck or something like that.

I had that tag last year. we were hunting around the dripping springs road we saw a few deer and lots of hunters. There is coues in this area the pinals have tons of roads almost to the point that hiking is worthless roads on every ridge.

good story sounds like you had a good hunt the harvest is not always that important. I am heading down next weekend in the same area, I had no time to scout this year so I going to wing it.
