Deer,Predators,and Drought
ultramag replied to Manamal's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
tell me if i am wrong, but as far as i know their is no deer hunting allowed in the 3bar study area. so if the study says the deer herd is doing extremly well there, could the antis use that study against hunters.and the game and fish. sounds like a big can of worms could be opened up. -
i believe that if you hit something hard enough you will destroy any arrow. there`s nothing wrong with any arrow if you hit what your aiming at. myself i shoot carbon and i like them over alum.

glad that i did not put in for unit 21 this year.it looks like thats all coues country burning. thats bad.pray for rain real soon.

Hunting Partners?
ultramag replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
good huntin buds are very hard to find!so apprecate the ones you can count on.ive got one guy that i always can count on. to hunt and scout with me.the hunt starts way before the season opens, scouting and shooting and having the proper equipment.i hate nothing more than spending a lot of time scouting and have no one else spend the time and money to insure a good hunt. but when opening day comes they are your best friend.we camp pretty good. i have a 5th wheel travel trailer that i stay in. I always try to have a little relax time somewhere in the hunt. i usauly drink myself silly one night "party night" . but i still hunt as hard as possible and take the hunt serously.i always try and spend at least 5 days on a hunt or more. and that does not matter if i am the tag holder.i enjoy being there just as much.i will hunt with anybody that i can and help them as much as i can.i just try to have a good experence and the hunt is the most important thing. -

air conditioning service tech. and it really sucks -
how many of you did not get a deer tag last year?count myself as #1 i am praying for this year

I agree kgaines you should spend more time glassing than walking.but that depends on where your glassing area is from a road.the farther the better.but stay there for a long time and let your legs rest.
-
if you shoot carbon arrows there is a layed vital area on one of the 3 D targets.can not think of which one but you have an easy time pulling arrows out of it.just somethig to consider.
-
it depends on how much beer i drank the night before. just kidding as far as the terrain will allow my legs to go and the deer activity.
-
not coues related but just thought id ask. last year and the year before i noticed that it seems like their was more bulls than cows in the units that i visited, did anyone else notice that.or was that just me.
-
yea thats what i saw last couple of years in 5a.i even had a bull tag last year.it would have been hard to shot a cow.easy for a bull.i was going to post the pics but dont know how.we got two bulls last year that i would show off it was not so hard to post them.

mine were cashed a long time ago,my overdraft acct is maxed out

i think you wrap the beasts in bacon and cook them slowly over the BB-Q grill served with a baked potato and beans mybe a salad.but that would be illegal. try something that flashes when the wind blows like tin foil on a stick or something
-
thanks for all the replies.hopefully this year we will all add some more to the count and have some good times to talk about.
