    stratify hunts

The G&F already did this. I believe it was 6a several years ago. It didn't last long
  3. I will pull off any and all red stickers I can get my hands on!!! Lol
  4. The problem seems that the FS only likes to enforce laws when its hunters. Labor Day weekend and the prior week FS wasn't doing any of this.. Didn't see a single FS truck around checking anyone. Quads, dirt bikes, etc very few were liensed. Idiots doing donuts on the roads going thought meadows not one FS truck anywhere to be seen.. Now it's elk season ill get checked a couple of times on the Polaris. And I better be on an open road..lol what a total joke...

    Good luck archery elk hunters

That's no kidding... Skeeters have been really bad the last 2 years. Not sure why. I never remember having been ate allive like I have been the last 2 years..must be the area I have been in??
  6. This is a great website.. Lots of good information. matter of fact I had some time this afternoon and drove around found a few trailers that looked staged for the upcoming hunt. I found some red tags on a few and pulled them off and burned them in my campfire tonight..lol I guess Iam selfish as well..I do the same thing mostly becuase I don't want to tow back and forth every weekend to scout and archery deer hunt..I sense a lot of jealously with some hunters. Get over it.. I was in 6a and 5bs
  7. I have dads old gun!!! Not the gun I use but thinking of hunting with dads gun and it happens to be a old Rem 700 in 30-06.ADL. I have been thinking about turning this into a 6.5x284 but I am not sure I want to do that. I am also not sure about trying to kill a coues with this gun. I don't know just the throwing this out there.........

    Vintage Remington 721

You could chamber it for 6.5x284 with just a barrel swap..the wsm chambering will require the bolt face to be opened up..

    The good ol days

I hunted 5a for a lot of years. My advice, the farther you get away from Hwy 87 the better bulls you see..

    Regular joe workout

I start out doing the stairclimber for 25-30 mins as fast as I can go.. It shows that I go about 2-2.5 miles??? All I know is it kicks my butt.. Then I weight train. And when I am done with that I go to the treadmill and finish myself off. I try to go at least a mile and a half..I do that at least 4 times a week.. I wish I could go more. Because its feels really good when you are done.. I don't watch what I eat. I should but don't. I have gotten stronger and my recovery time is short..

Off road travel to retrieve Big Game

Well after 2 days what else would you take??? Sure the right thing to do is to cut the antlers off put your tag on it call it a season....seems kinda chicken sh!t that you throw the archery hunters under the bus. When rifle hunts have lost animals as well..and If you have done any hunting at all you know that could be a possibility no matter what weapon you chose..

Off road travel to retrieve Big Game

You guys are entertaining. If you in the situation and have a dead bull elk 100yrds off a road and you could easily get you vehicle to it and not make ruts or get stuck you telling me your going to quarter and pack it out??? I would bet I know the awnser..let me guess your going to quarter it ou and pack it out...lol your fooling yourself...this is the do as I say and not as I do mentality..get over yourself..

Off road travel to retrieve Big Game

Well the dune crowd does more damage to forests over the holiday weekends than anyone that retrieves a downed animal. Maybe we should try to ban ATVs. All this garbage talk only makes more rules for the people that have respect for the land the idiots will still tear the forest up..

    Over 70 Illegal...

I predict in the next few years we won't have fire restrictions we will have forest open and forest closed times. We smelled campfire smoke Memorial Day weekend as well. It's really sad people don't think the law apply to them, like they are above the law.

How much for just the bullets?
  18. This was opening day, This was Jays first buck. We were glassing an are early afternoon Jay says I have a buck!!! The buck was 608 yards, he was ready the let the lead fly but looking at the area the buck was in we knew we could get closer so we did at 260 yards this was a great shot when we arrived the buck was bedded and we couldn't tell where the deer body was so had to wait for him to stand, about 2 hours we waited, the sun was shining at a bad angle for us to see real well so I got up to move a little to get out of the sun, that's when I spotted the other buck. At the same time the buck stood up and Jay put a 1 shot dead in his tracks shot, I shot the other buck and we had a double. Jays buck went 95 The pack out was extreme, I spent lots of time at the gym prior to the hunt and so did everyone it still almost killed us. Great memory This was a buck we glassed up in a different area we hunted. We only caught a short glimpse of him while he stood up from his bed and bedded no sooner the we spotted him. But we knew he was a decent buck. We were running out of light and the buck was still bedded. I told Clint to shoot above him to get him to stand. So he did and it worked 1 shot at 450yards and Clint had his biggest buck at 104. A mile pack out in the dark again. This was Dave's first coues, we glassed this buck as he bedded down. Then we moved in to take the shot at 365 yards it was a chore for Dave to find him in the scope but once he did a one shot kill sealed the deal. This was another mile in the dark pack out. This was George first coues and it was beginners luck about 5 minutes of glassing he found this buck. And 1 shot at 300yrds and he got his first coues. This was the best hunt I have ever been on, If you would have told me that we would 5 for 5 I would have said BS

HONDA BIG RED OR POLARIS RANGER

I haven't heard of any issues lately of Polaris belt drives. I know they had issues in the past but I think they are corrected. If buying used the 2007 was a belt eater I know I had one. But the 2008 and newer were ok. Had a buddy that had 2200 miles when he sold it and going strong still. The newer suspension on the 2009 and newer are night and day better.
  24. I have the same rifle my grandpa gave me. I think mine was a 1956 cool gun for sure. Free bump
